I had forgotten all about these cars but I always thought they were pretty cool looking,. I remember my best friends sister got a used one I think in the early 90s. Another kind of car that has come to mind that I forgot about but remember seeing a few of them back then I think but definitely remember seeing them in magazine ads was the Isuzu impulse in the mid 80s. The song is High On You by Survivor which is of course better known for Eye of the Tiger.

@@What.its.like.😃, oh yeah the '80s, great time for music!The impulse was a different looking car, wedge shaped I guess you'd say. It's wild that you mentioned the Laser, because there is a print ad of it in the same copy of the magazine that has the Impulse ad in it ! The the ad for the Laser is the advertisement introducing it in its first model year. I used to collect old magazines for the print ads in them. I have some vintage video ads of the laser also, great looking cars 😎, I never drove one, but my sister did get a new Dodge Daytona for graduation, which I enjoyed driving sometimes too.

I was the Mitsu tech in the local C-P store when these were new cars. The steering wheel-mounted stereo controls and the electronic A.C. are part of the technica package. The digital gauge cluster is missing tho. Now..... 1. The automatic seatbelts are on inertia reels inside the center console to lock the belts in the event of a crash. The EMERGENCY RELEASE levers unlock the inertia reels so the occupants can escape if the car is at an angle/upside-down and the shoulder belts are jammed. 2. The defrost button to the left of the steering column is the rear defrost. 3. A/INT WIPE CANCEL to the left of the column allows the front wipe to cycle continuously, giving a 3rd wiper speed. 4. The lighting buttons to the right of the cluster. a. Lower button - hazard lights as you mentioned. b. Center button - front fog lights. c. Upper button - raises the headlamp pods w/o the lights being on. Useful for cleaning the lights or to keep thrm from freezing down during bad weather. 5. Thr amp gauge in the cluster is a battery volts gauge. 1984-86 IIRC are ammeters instead of volts gauges. 6. The wiper switch on the right of the dash is the rear wipe control. 7. Steering wheel-mounted radio controls were first available on Conquest/Starion in '87 in the U.S. market. Pontiac had them first on the '86 6000STE. The Mitsu design was way more advanced tho.

@jonathanmorrisey5771
@jonathanmorrisey5771 Год назад
@@What.its.like. you're most welcome. The 1984-85 were ampmeters instead of voltmeters and I think '86 was also. 1987-89 used voltmeters in the gauge cluster. On the radio controls, '86 JDM Starions may have gotten the steering wheel controls while the U.S. had to wait to '87. The Mitsu system used infra-red light pulses to send the radio request to the multi-function switch receivers then on to the stereo. Pontiac used tiny slip rings on the back of the steering wheel and carbon brushes
@jcat96

The automatic climate control and audio controls were standard on all cars, at least from 86.5 onward. Technica was a narrow body with digital dash and retro future design

I really wanna drive one and see what that’s like I just recently drove a Porsche 944 and this accelerates just as fast as that I’m just interested to see driving dynamics between those two cars which one was better.. The Porsche is totally dead under 4000 RPM.. i’m just really curious to see if that’s what the Mitsubishi is like or if it makes power everywhere

My friend bought a Conquest Tsi new in 1988. That same year he loaned it to his 17 year old neighbor boy for his prom. The kid was messing around in front of the highschool where the prom was being held and accidently drove it straight through the side of the school, going thru a brick wall and landing half in half out. The car was totaled but he bought it from insurance for nothing and fixed it himself being a body man. That's how his 1 owner Conquest has a salvage title despite him never wrecking it. lol

They are beautiful cars and when they were running around in the 80's & 90's there wasn't much that could touch them, they were still pretty rare when they were being sold new. Some of the have these Turbo script seatbelts that are the sickest seatbelts ever put in a car, i love them.

This is a car that I’ve always wanted to drive I got to drive a Porsche 940 last year and this car is very similar to that car on paper anyway but I think in reality this car will walk all over the Porsche for half the price it’s probably cheaper than half probably a fraction of the price would be correct because from what I found these things are really fast here to 60 in five seconds or roundabout that I don’t think the 940 can go that fast the 940 is pretty much dead unless you’re at 5000 RPM it turns into a whole different car.. once you’re high in the rev range… If you’ve ever driven a Honda with VTEC it’s pretty much the same thing

Mitsubishi built the imported cars for Chrysler from the Dodge Colt-on. The car was designed to compete with the Isuzu Impulse. Chrysler products used Mitsubishi engines to supplant the base domestic 2.2L 4cly. in it's other cars. Chrysler and Mitsubishi built an assembly plant to build the U.S. versions of the Mitsubishi cars. They called it Diamond Star. One of the real monster cars started life out as the Mitsubishi Eclipse. U.S. versions were the Charger-influenced Dodge Stealth, also sold by Plymouth and Eagle brands. They had everything from the naturally aspirated 3L V6 up to the DOHC turbocharged V6 and was available with AWD. You might review one of these.

The levers on the center console that said pull in case of emergency, are for the automatic shoulder restraint. In a crash, the electric motor that moves the belt could fail, pulling the lever releases the belt from the seat end, not the roof allowing a rescue. That type of belt was simply horrible, I owned a Ford that had them.

I almost bought an 87 Conquest TSi. They looked awesome in red. I even thought of a name & lic plate for it, Tessi. Typical Japanese styling. Yes, one of the first with stereo controls on the wheel that I recall. Definitely fun to drive, but a good bit of turbo lag. I ended up with a 87 Dodge Daytona Shelby Z. As a result the first time I took the test, I failed because I wasn’t used to driving such a weird thing. The guy who gave me the test said,”Driving one was just like driving a car.” I told him that I never drove a car where the steering column is vertical. So I had to practice and test again later. The second time I was given a Chevy pickup and that was much easier to drive.

Bro this is the 2nd time I'm commenting for basically the same reason, you have no business reviewing cars, that so called "looks like a vacuum gauge's is a BOOST Gauge for the Turbo, and the buttons... "They appear to be for more lights", those are Fog lights and running lights, bro how are you gonna review cars and not know what the Fog Light icon looks like or the Turbo Boost icon, and there were so many other little things that you don't even know what they are and you skip over so many other things. Bro you're obviously doing ok with your channel reviewing cars, Could you please start to research the car you're going to review before you film, and please for the love of the CAR GODS would you please learn the Industry Standard Icons for all the Gauge's, Lights, and all the other accessories. Seriously there's an International Industry Standard for all the Icons. Dude watching your car reviews is like finger nails on a chalk board. And another thing do you know how lucky you are to get to review some of the cars you review. This one in Particular the Conquest is a Jewel from the 80's and so many were sent to the Crushers, back 30 years ago, before Fast and Furious made late 80's early 90's Cars with 4 cylinder turbos popular, people didn't see the Beauty in these cars, its a real shame and you get to sit in them, pick them apart look under the hood play with all the gadgets, sometimes drive them. And with all that, so many real car lovers would die to do what you do,and your lack of knowledge and skipping things like not giving the Boost gauge more camera time and more explanation is like a Slap in the face to all us Real Car Guys.
