Excellent review. I always liked the looks of the 87 but I had a cr instead. I did have an 88 kx250 which was purchased used and mostly worn out and would still holeshot my friends brand new 89 rm250 9 out of 10 time's. The best part was they were trash talking my bike prior to the 2 dozen holeshots we did in which I was only humiliated twice. Admittedly the rm was better in many ways but definitely not the power category.

The Kaws always had tractor like bottom end, so they made great woods bikes too.

I owned and raced one of these. Such a great bike. The motor was so good. Remember cracking the front fender.

Me too. My KX125 plastic was so brittle if it was cold out

One of the bikes that flawed me when it first reached the show room. Gorgeous in the flesh machine.

My 2nd bike was an 87 KX 125. I thought it was awesome but the KIPS were stripped and crusted into the cylinder and the swing arm bearings were all wasted. I’d love to have one now with the money to make everything right.,

Great review! I had one back in ‘87 and everything you’ve said seamed very familiar - right down to the split gas cap... I had one split one Saturday Night at Cycleland in Chico, CA - racegas mixed with a sweaty crotch isn’t a nice combination 😬😂

do you know by chance what carb model ward used? wanting to do a replica on my 87. was it a pj or pwk keihin?
@TheMotocrossVault
@TheMotocrossVault Год назад
Yes I have articles covering the 1987 factory bikes. Ward's '87 SR250 used a specially modified 38mm Keihin PJ flat slide carburetor.

Randy Nelson Those were cool, they should make a cheap bike like the RS now, with old school technology that’s affordable. Suz made a bunch of different models at the time, wish they still did.

When I pull in the clutch and put it in gear it cuts off what is wrong with it need help
@TheMotocrossVault
@TheMotocrossVault 2 года назад
It sounds like your clutch is not fully disengaging and it is stalling the motor when you put it in gear. Check to make sure the basket is not badly notched and binding the plates
