Pulling the frame on a 1987 Olds 442. Step one, get the frame and the body apart so I can sand blast the frame.

this is the step i was stuck on! limited help in my garage.. was replacing my body bushing when I saw rust come pouring out.. well, there were massive holes under the body bushing of my frame.

@@rlamas67 This was a repair that I had to do to both sides on mine ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-owASVdoeWUY.html You can also go in the trunk and cut open the area right above the spinner and remove it. Then you can use a washer and nut to fix it.

@@hutchhiperf I just rushed it lol but I think it'll work.. cutting a small square hole through the trunk.. just made a drill hole to see it and was spot on now I'll open it up

Now sure if you’re still monitoring these or not, but first I just wanted to say how amazingly helpful these have been! I’m doing this with my 86 ss monte. When loosening the body bushing bolts, do you suggest using an impact or socket on breaker bar?

I would try hand tools first before going to any impact tools. If you saw my videos on it, the back 4 (2 each side) were rusted in place and had to be cut out.

Really nice video and car, I just finished pulling the frame off my '87 Buick Grand National... took me a month, a lil here n there in the afternoon's...

Not that I know of. I'm basically disassembling the entire vehicle. This is why I glossed over pulling the engine, trans, and rear. I you can't do those, you may not want to tackle something like this alone. You can search "frame off restoration how to" and see what pops up. I would find a friend with some automotive experience to guide you through something like this, if you want to attempt it. Good luck.

This is the tutorial everyone should follow. Too many shady videos out there. I'm about to take on this job by myself for my Aerocoupe restoration.

yeah was fun did mine myself i had engine crane help out lifting one end at a time while i made a body craddel... i cleaned and repaird the frame... the usual washers welded in and POR-15 the frame it came out nice... oh yeah this a Monte im working on yup G body rust issues... good luck! Ps. i did it in a one car garage was tricky in itself

Props for the one car. At least I can move the little woman's car out and give myself some breathing room. I saw a guy who removed the doors and interior and used the 4 seat belt attach points with chains and lifted the body with a crane from the center of the interior.

Great Video ! *JUST AN OPINION HERE: I have done 6 of these, next time (prior to removal) remove the rear seat, and also look in the trunk ... you see some small "dimples" (where these 'cage nuts' are). What I do is spud a small hole (on these same dimples) and "PB Blast" them time and again ...(I speak of the "plate" and Bolt their-of) ... after multiple times doing this, (soaking them down), they always come out. Failure to do this will "tear" the nut "plate" loose and allow same to spin, thus making it nec. to use a hole saw to then "open" up this area. (Plugs are made to nicely seal all this back up). *Anyway, that's what I do, and usually it's (again), ALWAYS a good outcome. In you "kit", you'll see (or did / see) two places where most "G"'s were absent a mount (a "hockey puck") just atop of the rear wheel area. I forget the number, but it could be "5" ? (anyway; I'd install those as well). *I'll bet you did" !! ;- ) I again, applaud your effort here ... and you did a SUPER Job !! :- )

I have 1977 Grand Prix A-Body and have same job ahead. Not anytime soon but still. Body mount bolts for me aswell seem to be the worst part.
