The Superstars competition was the best! Such a great idea - brings me back to my childhood days.

Great watching Herschel Walker go head to head with Willie Gault. Like Superman vs. the Flash.

Not to mention he virtually smoked the great Darrell Green 0:50

So it was decided by one guy watching it live? Should be judged by watching the slow motion replay.

Gastineau comes off as incredibly engaging. Didn't remember him like this.

Man, Gastineau was like superman back in 1987. Sad to see him so frail these days. He is battling colon cancer, dementia, and Alzheimer. Major up hill battle but wish him full recovery.

Fyi, testeverde squatted 550lbs at Miami, absolutely incredible for a QB especially in 1987.

:55 So it's true that Herschel DID beat Darrell Green in the 100 yard dash...
@TruthProvidedRemnant
@TruthProvidedRemnant 3 года назад
Yes, he actually beat him twice in that event. Darrell said Walker just had a different gear than the rest of us. Where did those day go? I remember watching those events as a kid.

I LOVED the Superstars competitions! Thanks so much for this! Do you happen to have the 1988 one? Either way, MUCH appreciated!

Gosh I miss this 70's/80's dramatic music, and the bombastic commentary too. I think the word is 'razzmatazz', that's it, they had razzmatazz back then, I loved razzmatazz as a kid. It's probably seen as a cliche nowadays.

I remember watching this and the one thing they didn’t do was announce the times of the 100 yd dash. Does anybody know what the times were between Gault & Walker?

Loved this show as a kid, but there's no way teams ( or insurance companies) would allow current sports stars to do it these days - too worried about someone getting injured.

Even in the 80s, athletes got paid a pittance compared to what they make now. For instance, they showed Todd Worrell in that first interview… he only got paid $100,000 in 1986. Sure there’s some pride involved as well, but the prize money in events like this made it pretty lucrative.

@@imgoing2stayonyourmind654 I do because I met ppl that went to HS with him and a couple of his College teammates my dad knew personally and they said he lifted weights and that grade school routine was overblown...I did 250 pushups and 250 sit-ups a day from 4th-9th grade....but his story was overblown to 2000 at one point😂😂😂
@imgoing2stayonyourmind654
@imgoing2stayonyourmind654 3 года назад
During the off season, he did about 1500 on average, and about 2,000 (scissor) crunch situps. During the season, he'd do about 700 pushups. That doesn't count his pullups bar dips & sprints. As a once disciple, I've done as many as 1,600 (quality) pushups in 58 to 62 minutes. But not everyday. I've done as many as 2,200 pushups during the course of watching an NFL (500 a quarter & 200 at halftime) game. My sincere apologies for any ambiguity.🙂 These days I do between 200-600 pushups three days a week, along with about 500-1000 situps. Not counting other routines.

He lost every time he raced Willie Gault in the 100.This is the easiest thing to look up out of all of it go to the NCAA championships when they were both seniors gault beat him all three times he followed his ass into the finals quarters semi finals he lost all three dim wit. My friend taught me that and showed me that if you’re going to start talking shit learn how to do it right dumb ass.
