Part 10: In this video, the 1991 Chevy OBS project truck gets a 4" rear suspension drop as well as new bushings. Before you jump into a project of this magnitude, make sure you have the space and tools to get the job done. Air tools, chisels, floor jacks, hydraulic press all make the job easier but are not always required. Some can be rented others are a good investment.There are some tips for making the job easier (quicker).
I tried to make the video as short as possible without leaving out important tips and steps. If you enjoy the content of our videos, please hit the "LIKE" button, it helps us to provide the right content you want to see!

Thank you. Although they are more $ than a typical shock extender, I liked it better because it did not hang down. Good luck!

Order some of those shock extenders. Great video. Im sure these worked better with the sway bar.
@laurencevillegarage
@laurencevillegarage 2 года назад
Yes, I've never cared for the lower extenders, they seemed like a necessary evil. The sway bar will hang down a bit, but not too low. I'm having some parts made....it may take me a while to get it all together. I'll be starting on the front end of the truck shortly.

Did you have to adjust the pinion angle? Thanks!!!
@laurencevillegarage
@laurencevillegarage Год назад
With a 4" rear and 2" front, no, the angle is still ok. If you do a 6" rear...yes.

I'm bit confused, how was it lowered?? Through the shock extenders or did he get different leaf springs?
@laurencevillegarage
@laurencevillegarage Год назад
I used 2” shackles and 2” drop hangers for the 4” drop. I used the shock extenders to use shocks I already had and not use a drop shock and to improve the shock angle from stock.

@@laurencevillegarage ohhh i see, thanks very much Mister. I just bought a 94 that was "lowered" turns out the leaf spring hangers were torn, so I'm gonna get those replaced.

How dose this ride ..? Dose it bottom out on bump stops..? I noticed u did not c notch the frame which I don't wanna do to mine either
@laurencevillegarage
@laurencevillegarage Год назад
No, it does not bottom out, but, it will affect your load capacity. You can’t carry a load of tile or a pallet of grass. The quality of ride will depend a lot on the type and quality of shocks you use. Get a good shock and you will be good.

How did you route the emergency brake?
@laurencevillegarage
@laurencevillegarage 9 месяцев назад
I routed the emergency brake cable over the top of the driveshaft/differential and secured it in place with the factory bracket. The bracket is turned in a different position (than stock) to the top of the rear differential just above the pinion/rear driveshaft mounting pad.

hey did you buy a kit for all this?
@laurencevillegarage
@laurencevillegarage 2 года назад
No, I did not. I bought the components separately. The truck already had the rear shackles, I already had the shocks. I have never seen the upper shock extenders that I found in a kit. I have seen shackles and hangers in a kit on eBay for $106..

@@laurencevillegarage @ its that 02 style master cylinder, has more power??? I got 1 from 03 tahoe, would it fitt into 84c10??
@laurencevillegarage
@laurencevillegarage 2 года назад
@@gerardolopez5875 I’m not sure about it fitting the C10, I’ve never tried that. Not more power, but that m/c is made for f/r disc brakes and the reservoirs are more equal in size/fluid displacement. The one on the c1500 has 2 different size reservoirs, that is why you would need a proportioning valve to control the fluid/pressure to the rear brakes to keep them from locking up prematurely.
