同社の人気作品「魂斗羅」の続編。今回はサイドビューに加え、新たにトップビューのステージが盛り込まれている。操作は8方向レバーで移動、攻撃とジャンプに2つのボタンを使用するが、トップビューのステージでは、ジャンプボタンをスーパーシェルの発射に使用する。パワーアップはスプレッド、マシンガン、ボム、レーザーの4種類。全5ステージの2周エンド。映画風のオープニングが良い。
ストーリー:
西暦2634年12月謎のエイリアン軍団との戦いから1年、地球はその魔の手から逃れたかと思われていた。しかしエイリアンは復活していた!

Super Contra - Alien no Gyakushuu (c) 1988 Konami.
The sequel to "Contra" - released a year earlier - is set in the year 2634 and begins with the disturbing news that the alien invaders from the first game - a race known as the Red Falcon - have renewed their attack on Earth and have infiltrated military bases and possessed most of the federation forces troops.
The heroes of the first games - Bill Rizer and Lance Bean - are once again called upon to defend the Earth and defeat the alien invaders.
Super Contra plays identically to its predecessor, with the usual mix of run-and-gun gameplay. The main difference is that the into-the-screen stages of the original Contra have been replaced with overhead stages. In addition, power-up icons are now represented as the actual weapons wielded by the characters, instead of the traditional letter-based falcon icons and players can now upgrade their weapon by picking it up twice in a row.
Another new gameplay addition is that players can now control the height of their jump; holding the joystick up and pressing the jump button allows for a higher jump; likewise the player can perform low jumps by holding down-right or down-left while pressing the jump button.

PSストアやsteamなどで、『魂斗羅アニバーサリーコレクション』発売中ですよ。9月の下旬までサービスプライスで購入可能です。AC&FC版の魂斗羅やスーパー魂斗羅、魂斗羅スピリッツ、ハードコア、欧州版などもプレイ可能。これは買うしかないでしょ。

個人的にスーパー魂斗羅(AC版)のデモのパンダココア(なんだここは?)等の音声がカットされてたのが気になる。あれがあってのスパ魂なのに(悲哀)!

2-4のボスの回避方法とか、知らないパターンがあって非常に興味深く拝見しました。 S魂斗羅は基板を買う程好きですがノーミスクリアはした事が無いです。

There seem to be a lot of similarities between this game and the "Aliens" arcade game released by Konami two years later. Beyond the off-brand Xenomorphs in the last few levels of "Super Contra", some of the explosions and not-standard-Xenomorph-aliens look similar in both games. Makes me wonder if "Aliens" (the 1990 Konami game) started out as a game in the Contra series, before Konami got the "Aliens" license rights midway through development and retooled some half-finished "Super Contra II" game into a licensed "Aliens" game.

que tal recuerdazo,solia jugar esto en el pimball y era mas dificil de lo que se ve ,a finales de los 80's aparecio esto si no me equivoco,pase bastante tiempo buscando esta version,mil gracias por subirlo y llevarme como en una maquina del tiempo a mi infancia

Player is using the invincible frames you have when getting a weapon pickup. If you're not watching in 60fps, you wouldn't be able to tell the character is flashing and briefly invulnerable.

Are you kidding me the graphics sucked compared to the arcade. The gameplay and levels are the same but the graphics were much better in the arcade. I guess you think Ikari Warrios was better on the NES than the arcade also.

@@robertdaone Don't put words in other people's mouth. Ikari Warriors NES port is a failed effort, because it tried to preserve the arcade style control which is impossible on a NES controller, while it didn't improve anything in level design, and the music is downgraded too. Super C NES port, on the other hand, simplified the controls, refined all the levels and even added plenty of new ones, and have a carefully remixed soundtrack that fits the NES style.
