1988 AL Rookie Of The Year, World champion, All-Star and a New Yorker, Walt Weiss 

Walt Weiss was born and raised in New York’s Rockland County a few miles away from Yankee Stadium, a team he became a fan of in his youth. In the Major Leagues with the Oakland Athletics he would play with two players whom he grew up rooting for as a kid, Willie Randolph and Reggie Jackson. Weiss won 1988 American League Rookie of the year with Oakland in the first year of three consecutive seasons to the World Series for the Oakland Athletics. Before that Weiss started for the North Carolina Tar Heels and built a little relationship with Michael Jordan. Weiss managed the Colorado Rockies after his playing career and is now a member of the Atlanta Braves coaching staff.
