1988 Ferrari 412: The Atypical Tipo F101 

This car is, to me, one of the most beautiful Ferraris. Most of their cars are too flashy for my taste, almost vulgar, but this one is subtle and has these gorgeous classic lines.

Always loved how this criminally underrated car looks.

I totally agree that this is the pinaccle of Pininfarina design. Every line is perfect and without hubris. Line and proportion in complete balance.

This is one very beautiful Ferrari for the gentleman, who wants to enjoy his car without drawing everybody´s attention on both him and the car. Timeless, elegant Pininfarina design. Maybe comparable to a Mercedes 560 SEC or a BMW M635CSi. But the Ferrari has the adorable classic V12. For me, this is one of the most desirable Ferrari.

My eyes were watering throughout this one! I've always had a thing for the 412 and this story was terrifically told. Another gem by Petrolicious.

Magnificent car with a classic vintage shape, a true gentleman's express, I think one day they will go for crazy money. What I love most is the passion in the guys voices as they describe the story and what it means to own and drive a Ferrari. Wow!

It is always annoying when people say expensive and limited cars are accessible to everyone. It just isn't true.

I know amongst Ferrari enthusiasts the 412 (and the Mondial) are sometimes considered to be the "lesser Ferraris." But the same thing was once said about the Dino, and look where they are now! While they may not get as much respect as other cars in the marque, let us not forget that its still a Ferrari and not only that, it is a V-12 Ferrari with a manual gearbox and that's pretty special! Some may sneer at them now, but one day these just might go the way of the Dino. Needless to say, fantastic video as always. Thanks Petrolicious for always being the only good thing about Tuesdays!

412 manual is the ultimate iteration of this beautifully elegant model; Jag XJ12C was a possible competitor but lacked the glamour and was usually only ever automatic.

As a Ferrari enthusiast I've found myself having a debate about this one, while it's not my favorite Ferrari roadster it is different and I'd have to give props to the builders and designers for at least putting in good effort to recapture the grandiose styling of the luxurious coupes of the '60s. So this car gets ⭐⭐⭐⭐ out of 5 from me.

The Ferrari 412 is a remarkable car, the only problem is, it was built ahead of its time. I've been wanting one since its release years ago. However, their is a company called Ares Designs and they recreate the Ferrari 412a and it is simply GORGEOUS. Something that most people will never see. My sights are now set on owning a 412a built by them.

I totally love the 400/412 line up, but with such low production line I am terribly concern of sourcing parts- If I ever get into a Ferrari it will have to be a 456M.

These are a nightmare to maintain,, if you could do the work yourself I think swapping in a new Maserati motor from a salvage or something would sound Italian and be a lot less of an issue for the engine maintenance. I remember looking at one of these and then I found out how much it was to fix and maintain.... From what I'm told the parts are hard to get and extremely expensive.

Dare to Dream I think people dont understand how to acquire a classic. They think you HAVE to be wealthy. So I will help. You need desire...and I dont mean I want one of those. You need to have an emotional attachment of desire...read about the car you truly desire! Read about it research it know about the car you want. Know what came vefore it what model c as me after it ...become a self acclaimed expert. None of this is any WORK at all it should be pure live and desire that propels you along. Join every club for that model car you desire...yes I know you dont even have the car . Join the clubs for the car model you want. Talk and get to know everybidy you can in the clubs so every one knows your live of that model car you truly love with passion. When you get to this point youve seen a number of them in person youve gotten rides in one you talk to owners about them. In a car Club there are many members that have more rhan one car of that model. Parts cars a more tired second car...or enough parts to build a car....... They know where other cars are.... They may have to make space, or down size the cars they have...the wife wants room not a nother car project...o r the collector just may love your passion and sell you one fir an honest peice jyst to keep a car freindship going. They want to see the car go to someone that LOVES the car as much as he does. The Car will find you!!! Do not think , the details. Do not say Ill never afford one Do tell anybody that listens a bout your dream car.....you never know who knows somebody that had one or has one. The Car will find you! But you have to want it so much that your blind too How Much It WILL work out so easy and you will have your dream car.?

It's funny, in its day this car was something of an embarrassment - it didn't have a good image, and many thought it too old and too heavy. The one in the film is a manual, many were automatic, which at the time didn't seem to fit the Ferrari image at all.
