I hope that when Yuzu and Javi grow older, they'll pass on what they have learned like Brian. There's something magical about figure skating, making it seem more than just the scores and the jumps. It touches your heart. I hope that Yuzu will still have this magic in his heart even if someday he decides to retire.
It's interesting to watch this, and compare Brian's technique with what he's passed along to his pupils, notably Javier Fernandez and Yuzuru Hanyu. You can definitely see his influence in their skating! Especially the way he uses his body to convey emotion in the song and translate it to the audience.
There is still nobody that has the amazing air position that Brian has when he jumps. And of course, Story was such a touching and meaningful program throughout his career.
Now that Brian is gonna couch Medvedeva I hope he can pass along this subtle level of artistry and technique to her. If there's one person that can actually make her have a worthy program it's him!
I am so so so happy he will be coaching Evgenia! Time for her to escape the mundane 'serious' programs of Eteri, honestly. This is so much more humane.
@TitaniumLiquids a DELAYED double axel though. I'm not sure I've seen anything remotely like that in today's figure skating except perhaps Hanyu's delayed single axel.
