I miss these times but Australia had some of the best comedy shows around in that time including the 90's...The Comedy Company, Fast Forward (Full Frontal/Totally), Mother & Son, Tonight Live With Steve Vizard and The Big Gig....It was a brief but extremely memorable time here! We need comedy like this in 2023 now more than but we know that'll never happen?!
An hour of some 80's Aussie comedy gold! Haven't laughed that much in ages 😂Even most of the ads cracked me up - so nostalgic too. It's amazing seeing all the things that have changed in 35 years...oh except high taxes, and inflation 🤪 Thanks @Gezza1967 you made my week!
In 1988 Ian McFaddyen was in the Bank of Melbourne on Swan St in Richmond. Mistakenly I thought he was Michael Leitch from D- Gen. He was such a kind hearted gentleman and was so happy I recognised him, and explained he was Ian McFaddyen and of course I realised my error immediately he said that. I loved him too I said. He was so sweet.
In 1990 I walked past Bridgit Duclou at a busy Saloon bar in Sth Yarra one Friday night and wrongly called her Jo Hall (ch9 News) in my brief greeting. Her face looked less than impressed. Haha
Ian S I would certainly be interested but don’t have the capacity to convert at the moment. I think when lockdown eases, I’ll start thinking about this kind of stuff but it is a fantastic offer.
@@FootyOnTheRadio no worries, just bear it in mind - I've got a load of Tassie footy stuff and old episodes of Janus I want to get converted but like you, I'm waiting for things to get back to normal first...
Great upload. Seeing the old ads was quite funny as well. I was actually looking for a skit I found hilarious at the time, but don't remember which show it was on. It was in 3 parts. First one, a car joins another to a stop at an intersection. One drive says to the other after looking down, excuse me, your dress is hanging out of the car. The person looks, and says silly me and that's the end of the skit. The 2nd one, the same, except it's their whole leg. The last one, it's just the arm you can see on the steering wheel and the person says, your whole body is hanging out of the car and the same response. Short, but very funny.
In fact on the Sunday 7.30 timeslot in 1988 & 1989, The Comedy Company consistently beat 60 Minutes in the ratings. Throughout 60 Minutes' history it has never been beaten on a regular basis before & after the Comedy Company's short history. It's a terrible shame that Channel 10's near bankruptcy ended the Comedy Company so soon at the end of 1990.
@@kurtflahavin5994 sure it wasnt social justice nonsense and feminist cancer nonsense that killed the comedy company , and many of the great comedies ? it was about that time the hypocrisy started to boom ?
I noticed the theme tune is 'Chicago Stomp' by Keith Nichols, which is probably best known for being used in Benny Hill's silent sketches in the 80's (though like the film, the sound was sped up too).
The Trollettes reminded me of a skit on one of the comedy shows, "Less than Best" sendup of the Best and Less ads. Tried searching for it but I can't find it, can anyone help?
Oh boy, you said it, some of these ads are real shockers. I grew up watching ads from those times, but some of them I thought were going to turn out to be part of the comedy show, they were like a parody of themselves. That is part of what was great about these comedians, they realised in real time what a load of schlock we were being fed, and made fun of it.
