Anybody encounter a weird stuttering issue with their car, and if fixed what was the problem?? I tried everything but the IACV and TPS but neither of those were giving check engine lights yet! I'd love to get this car running smoothly.

I just fixed mine replaced the dizzy ($220)and fuel filter ($20)on point now there are two different dizzys for these years I was told idk why but they went by the vin number to match..

IACV wont have anything to do with sluggish revs as it only controls your cold idle. TPS definitely could though. Are you finding the same stutter @ WOT? O2 is ignored @ WOT so that could help narrow it down to the O2 (I dont think you replaced it?). Lastly check for good grounds around the engine as a loose / bad / missing ground can screw up the spark.

DOHCness Seals, the rubber o-rings surrounding the top? I didn't check the injector filter screens yet. All are working, I used the screwdriver to ear trick and could hear all 4 ticking the same.

OMAR HERNANDEZ Ok, I tried my dizzy from my wagon and it acted the same and mine was brand new when I did the mpfi swap 6 months ago. I'll ask him if he has changed the fuel filter.

I personally cleaned my throttle Body, IACV, got a new gakset and line for the IACV and cleaned my PCV valve and that helped ALLOT, it didn't fully fix it but it sure helped allot.

I watch this all of your videos and don't even have and EF or Si (yet) but I pray soon that I will be able to get one of these cars and fix one of my own up. I'm am trying to learn as much as possible to learn how to do the stuff myself. As I don't know really now that much about fix cars but your video content is very inspiring for me.

Just trying to get answer to my transmission /.clutch replacement. Anyways, removed the transmission to change the worn input shaft bearing, replaced clutch, throwout bearing/spring, flywheel, rear main oil seal, seals. Put everything back, tried to start it but it's revving trying to turn over and there's this sound like something hitting a plastic container or something. It only happens after the engine is trying to crank up. Then, boom, not too low but sounds like hitting a plastic container as I am sitting inside my car. Battery is brand new. Adjusted the clutch cable per ErictheCarGuy. Followed your transmission removal video as a guide. Thanks for your help.

You opened the transmission and changed out the bearing inside? Are you sure it was sealed up correctly?

Nice work. I would check the fuel filter, valve adjustment, PCV valve and ignition timing with a light. You'd be amazed how much better it can be when the distributor is timed correctly.

Back in the day I had this issue too with my si. In my case it was the O2 sensor even though it looked fine. Same symptoms bogging and stuttering at low rpm when reving and driving Cool video's, love seeing these old honda's restored! :)

Hey make sure the vacuum lines are in tack, a good ground or add another ground to the motor. Clean the the throttle body or take it out and make sure the gasket is good. Let me know what up when you figure it out love the video

You should always periodically spray all of the suspension parts with AT205 rubber sealant to prevent the parts from drying out and cracking especially on the older civics and CRXs.

When I think I'm working on a bad clutch I drive the car and feel how it shifts, then I jack the front wheel off the ground, start it up and go through the gears. If it still shifts with difficulty 9 times out of 10 its a bad transmission.

Hey dude I got my ef awhile ago and fixed that problem. It was throwing o2 code and it ended up being the fuel pump, fuel filter, fuel regulator, injectors. When efs throw o2 code it's mainly due to lean condition and the only thing it can trigger is the 02. But definitely check everything fuel. For me it was replacing the pump but anything else mentioned can be the problem.

I was having a similar issue with a car a bought 95 accord ex..stumbled on acceleration...went thru just about everything..previous owner said it had a fresh tune up so I over looked the spark plugs. put in some ngk iridiums solved all the stumbling issues.

Check for oil in the spark plug hole. Plug wires could be crossfiring under load.

Check the cable and pedal assembly first. If those are fine you're clutch might be blown.

A bad synchro or that gear is worn. Nothing will fix it but a rebuild.

Do you have a tip on removing the pressure plate bolts without using an impact? The method using a breaker bar/Honda crank specialty tool on the crank pulley works if tightening the PP/FW bolts but loosening them, I find it challenging securing the breaker bar going in the opposite direction. Thanks

@@GarageBuiltHondas lol. For some reason I completely forgot about just simply adjusting the crank pulley so that I am better able to position the Honda specialty tool/breaker bar on the ground. Bolts came off like nothing haha!

Perfect! Another method if you don't have that tool is to add a bolt on the flywheel. You'll see along the other edges you can insert a bolt. Add another bolt to a transmission mount, and put a wrench between both. It'll stop the flywheel from spinning and lock it into place also. 👍

try swapping the fuel injectors from another si, since the head was replaced before they could've use a dx or hf injectors.

+Socsom I'm going to use another set of Si injectors just to make sure. The DX won't fit since the obd0 dpfi only has 2 and both are different than the mpfi setup.

try a ecu from your car could be bad the ecu,not the timing ever if one tooth off that seems like ecu,dizzy,tps,compression.i did see how it creeps up very slowly to 150 on cylinder number 2 thats not good.

Never, ever, ever, just swap a good ecu in to test. Test the circuits to find the problem or walk away and let someone else do the job. If a shorted or grounded circuit killed the first ecu it'll do the same to the second one. Throwing known good parts at it is the absolute last resort.

wow! I would absolutely let you work on my 91 civic B18c! you take big care of that man's car. I am having this check engine light coming on only after the motor is hot and I stop at a light. ( or when I stop driving ). It does not comes on when I drive.. The car still runs smoothly... I can't think of what it could be. Does these B18C 1998 Type R had Evap systems ? It is straight pipe tho... maybe a Catalytic code ? or O2 code ?.. let me know if you can think of something. I sure should check at that little red light on the computer. thanks for this vid! :)

Garage Built Hondas yes it lights on in the dash. And disappear when I turn the car off. I can't tell for the Ecu. My car is stored for the winter :/

+xacoviex something needs fixing. It depends on ecu also so we can see which sensors aren't working. If you don't have an 02 sensor and you're obd1 or 2, you'll automatically get a CEL. You need those on that type of one

You're fine reusing the bolts as long as you torque them properly.

That is the worst clutch I've ever seen! I saw a video here on youtube recently where a guy uses his cherry picker to raise and lower transmission, hanging it by the little bracket with a hole in it. Thought it was a pretty good idea but not sure if the D series has that same feature bolted onto case.

The D'series does have that feature on it. 10:06 you can see it. It's the bracket that holds the clutch cable adjuster.

I bought a hatchback, with "clutch problems" upon removing the transmission, turns out the clutch was fine, pedal was very stiff, seeing that the clutch is cable driven, should i replace with a lighter oem clutch (LUK) ? The clutch it came with has a "stage 2" pressure plate style.... Could that be the issue? Cable moves but its so stiff that it flexes the braket it latches on to, a little. Im assuming clutch cables arent "stage 2" friendly? Also it makes it really hard to shift into 1st and 2nd gear.

Check your pedal assembly. The metal may have torn or bent. A common issue when heavier clutches are installed.

I personally wouldn't think it's the clutch. I've driven and have heavier clutches than that on a couple of my cars already with no issues. Looks like it's time to get outside and start turning some wrenches.

Hay Jon.. I'm about to be attempting a full clutch job this friday and Im replacing both CV axles.. just a couple questions.. Did you replace the flywheel bolts or pressure plate bolts? Also do you replace the pilot bering? when you say spray it all with brake clean do you spray the disk? Or no.. and are these tourq specks the same for the D15b2? Sorry for all the questions but it's going to be the first time I have ever dropped a trans... You helped me last time with my ignition problem video...

+SunShineMoto No,all reused bolts for clutch and flywheel. Yes, the pilot bearing was replaced and comes with the clutch kit along with the throwoit bearing. No, don't spray the clutch disc. Only the flywheel and pressure plate surface to clean off any rust preventative solvents that are applied. Same specs for d15b2 as well! Which bearing? Throwout bearing? That bearing goes on the transmission, the pilot bearing is the small one in the flywheel.

Garage Built Hondas thanks man.. I'll be installing the clutch, and all of that.. and my DNA exhaust just came in today also.. 114 shipped lol.. I'm hoping that the clutch is actually bad after all this $ and not just covered in oil from my leaks 😂.. slipping bad in all gears now.. I'll try to get some video..

Hello i love your videos btw ! I recently did a b16a2 swap out of 2000 em1 into a 1997 ek dx coupe and i can’t seem to get the speedometer or rpms to work on my cluster i’ve tried three different cluster and 1 brand new vss checked fuses but still no luck what do you think it could , the speedometer worked on the 2000 si before we pulled it out , do you have any idea what it could be ?

My best guess just from reading this is wiring. The EM1 is obd2b and it gets the tach signal from the ECU as compared to from the distributor in the 96-98 obd2a models. I would check any subharnesses if you're using any to the ECU and verify all the locations of the wires at the ECU.

I have a studder in first. By studder it's like it's jumping as I'm taking off then smooths out. When in reverse backing up, going back into neutral the car feels like it locks up and leaps a little forward. I'm making a video tomorrow. Anybody ever encountered this? Spray some wd40 onto it at the top and keep wiggling it around. Even if the rubber boot was there, moisture can get in there and rust/corrode the cable to the sensor.

So I tried with wd40 and with pb blaster penetrating oil and the thing won't come out I even used pliers to pull, so I was wondering how you pulled out the whole speed sensor like how you did in this video because I feel like that's my last resort

I don't remember ever saying I was going to show you "how to" or "diy" something, nor has it ever been in the title. If you looking for a DIY on how to remove the trans and change the clutch, if you would've watched to only 1:05 in, I have a link to an older video where I show you a DIY on how to remove the transmission on these vehicles. With that said, what exactly are you looking for in this video? It talks about a clutch replacement in the title/thumbnail, what else are you expecting to see?
