This is my 1990 GT Turbocharged Mustang. I used the basic on3 turbo kit. Put the Master power MP70/68 on the kit with a Tial MVR 44mm WG. Made 539/602 to the wheels 16 degrees total timing w/ 93 pump gas. Actually made 560 630 but had to retune a few days later because the on3 WG was boost spiking. This vid/numbers are with the Tial. 302 production Stock block & Stock fox cam refreshed new rings/bearings pump and chain. GT40P heads w/ Trickflow springs. Explorer Intake and 65mm TB I made from explorer intake. Tremec 3550 w/ 355 gears. This is a MUSTANG DYNO. Tuned at Ti dyno in Ashtabula by Dave Dalke. Kevin Cragon is the owner of the dyno. This is the second on3 stock block/cam car I have built. The other black GT is in another video. Which made close to the same number but I used GT40 3 bar IRON heads instead. Neither car had ANY porting done to those parts. Just good tuning. Always save money for a tune folks.... Even If you have to travel!
This particular car has run a best of 10.70's @ 131 MPH. We opted to go to a taller gear for better 60's. That pass was only 1.60 60 foot. Still more in it. Auto would be faster. Street car insured and plated. Driven almost daily. (we turn the boost down during those days)!

When mine was blow thru. With a demon on 9psi. it made all of its power before 3k. Spools really quick. that was with a t-5 and 3.73 gears. But now i have a build aod with a 275 radial. And 15psi so i dont know hen its going to spool up. I should have it on the street this weekend. No tune. Just to see how the car responds with the efi, and tranny change. And i dont think imma have it tuned. Imma lock timing and watch the afr. And i hope to busting up the track on march 1st. with a better time then 12.99 at 112. btw mine is a 351w with a fcam and super vic, with a wilson elbow. Little different not much though.

Current mods are f303 cam, trickflow dual valve spring kit, comp cams hyd lifters, one piece hardened pushrods, 47# FRPP injectors, GT-40 upper and lower intake port matched to E7TE castings. I am also running the stinger performance pimp ECU. hoping I can gain close to what you have hear with a little gearing. I dont see my world class T5 lasting long. lol. Thanks for the info. I am going to freshen up my 5.0 and give this kit a try. Anything I need to be aware of during the install? Any parts needed that don't' come with the kit? I was told to get a bigger fuel pump and 47lb injectors.
@Neomustangs
@Neomustangs 9 лет назад
Ya at a minimum 255 LPH in tank pump and 42 ford racing green top injectors. I don't like the 47's they aren't flow matched well.
@KamaroFreak
@KamaroFreak 9 лет назад
Neomustangs Do you have a part number for the injectors? How long has your turbo lasted? I heard the quality isn't that great on the turbo, and the waste gate isn't great. Your comments or suggestions on that? Was also told I would have to upgrade the transmission and axles.
@Neomustangs
@Neomustangs 9 лет назад
Yes, trans and axles will eventually have to be upgraded. Stock parts don't handle 500 HP well. The motor is fine if tuned but the axles and trans...well that's a different story. Also the turbo is just fine. The only crappy parts I wouldn't put on my car that was NIB from on3 is the wastegate and the flex coupler on the crossover. I would cut it out and weld a good one in. Of course I would modify quite a bit but you don't really need to do that. If the WG is only gonna handle under 10 lbs its fine. But I push 15 ish+

I'm using an On3 kit on a 93 5.0 P heads, F cam etc from about 2 years ago. With the standard 7lb spring I'm getting what I consider boost creep. Intermittently sometimes the boost will go as high as 10-12. Where do you connect your reference hose to? The turbo housing itself? Have you ever had to add a second gate. thanks
@Neomustangs
@Neomustangs 2 года назад
You need a larger gate. Or a new one. The creep is because the gate isn’t keeping up or the gate is intermittently faulty.

@@Neomustangs actually I messed up. I had the reference line connected to the vent instead of where it was supposed to be. On3 helped me figure that out. Now it pulls about 5-6 psi pretty consistent and doesn’t creep higher so I’m in good shape and can add a boost controller and go from there. Thanks again for your help.

So the GT40P's work fine with the On3 headers? I have a 91 coupe, bone stock 302 with the exception of an explorer intake. Using E7's with ARP studs, it put down 430/480 at 12lbs using an old school TKO. I'm thinking about picking up a exploder motor in good shape and put my stock cam in that, or just throw a set of gt40p's on my motor. It runs pretty good for what it is now, if anything I need to start doing suspension mods and get some good tires under it. Zero traction as it is now. Love these On3 kits.
@Neomustangs
@Neomustangs 9 лет назад
Yep the P heads had no issues with the headers. HOWEVER, I will forewarn you the half cut 5/8 spark plug socket is your best friend for this. I think 2 of the plugs I had to use this socket to get the plug in place. It has a wrench end on it so its nice you can just wrench it tight. I use 90 degree spark plug boots too, didn't have to use the spark plug boot covers to cover from heat but I did anyway. No big deal. I have been beating up on 2-3 of those old school TKO's (if you mean the 3550's) for years now. Just had one recently after about 200+ track passes and 4 years of use start losing its 3rd gear syncro. Wasn't rebuilt when I got it but worked just fine for years. Needs a refresh is all.
@Neomustangs
@Neomustangs 9 лет назад
One more thing I wanted to comment on. The welds on the crossover inlet tube for wastegate and welds around the turbo flange area. Keep an eye on them. If you own the kit for a few years they will start showing signs of cracking. Its normal wear and tear. I just had to weld a few inlet tubes on the WGs up with new steel 1.75" tubing. Tigged a new one in place made a world of difference. For the price, you cant beat a little maintenance here and there.

@Neomustangs
@Neomustangs 9 лет назад
I have a theory to that. Being that I haven't messed up a 140k mileage motor yet (the black gt) you would think something went right? Right? Well its all in the tune. My theory is people spend all this money on HCI and do the on3 and make less HP/TQ than me because they are either 1) Being tuned by someone that shouldn't be tuning it, ... or 2) they think they can "skip" the tune and go old school and just dead lock timing and set FP. Which works sorta but that's what we did back in the day to compensate for lack of technology to tune the cars right. That's shouldn't be the way it works today. Anyways, Theres no sign of either of my cars block splitting. Blocks split because people don't get them tuned or don't get them tuned right... Custom tune by a knowledgable tuner should be the best mod you save for outside of the kit itself. No exceptions. I think I proved that not once, but twice with both of my turbo stock block cars. Ya know. For the record, I have had both the black and blue GT's tuned, tweaked and touched up with tuning about 20 times between the 2 cars alone. Its not 600 bucks everytime you do it lol. Most tuners will tweak a tune for an hour here and there for like 50 bucks or 100 bucks. Which imo is well worth it.
@BMR_WRLD
@BMR_WRLD 9 лет назад
Thanks for the reply ( I happen to be your customer ) 600$ around is about how much to save for a tune ? And what cost of the specific kit you bought? One more thing, I am scared about my t5 behind all that power. The big reason that stops me from thinking turbo, that I have to spend the same amount of money on a transmission.
@Neomustangs
@Neomustangs 9 лет назад
Well heres the problem. T5's are fine on the street as a "substitute" until you can find a 3550 trans. Stock blocks in bone stock form (w/o GT40 stuff or cams/rockers) make 400 to wheels w/o blinking twice on an on3 kit. That's the kit that made on3 famous to begin with. Its made for this car. Theres ways to sorta strengthen ur T5 to hold a tad bit more power but again your limited to time. I just built a T5 for a guy that's gonna try to make 450 to wheels on his combo. We put a new OE input in the trans, and a few features like girdle and rear counter shaft billet retainer to keep the countershaft tight. We'll see how it holds up. I would get the car done, tuned and make some good power. Then worry about trans. As for rear diff that's another issue you start creeping towards 500 HP your gonna want new axles. In my blue GT turbo we actually robbed a 5.0 explorer of its diff because they came stock factory with 31 spline diffs that bolt right into 8.8 fox housing. We rebuilt the diff with new ford racing carbon clutch packs (80 bucks?) and found a set of good used 31 spline 4 lug fox axles from a local friend of ours. So we didn't have to pay big money for strength in the rear axle. I think we were out a total of 300 bucks putting that together minus new brakes and wheel cylinders which are cheap to begin with.
@BMR_WRLD

Running in the 10's on a stock block is crazy! Very impressed my friend
@Neomustangs
@Neomustangs 9 лет назад
I don't know chad personally at On3. Matter of fact I have never had a conversation with him. There company is where its at today because of there idea to put a direct bolt on kit for fox bodys. These engines 87-92 already came with forged pistons which is a huge plus and stock bottom end motors, especially ones that are in good shape still, can make plenty of power at the wheels with this kit doing nothing but supporting mods to the car. Such as head studs, larger injectors, valve spring upgrade (deck heads to flat too) etc. Stronger transmissions are needed and of course better axles. But this kit is pretty much a bolt on and go tune it kit. Having a custom quality tune at a reputable dyno shop that knows what they are doing is important. You should save at least 600 in your build to pay for a reputable tune even if you have to travel. As for kit quality it is above average. The piping is welded pretty well and its pretty good quality. Vbands aren't the best but save money in your build for a few extra ones just to have. The Waste gate and BOV aren't bad either. The turbos are fine as well. For the money the kit is above average. Better than any ebay crap you'd spend a grand on anyways. The first thing that usually goes on these kits is the Waste gate. But that's years into their use. Im still using 2 on3 blow out valves and don't see anything wrong with them. I have had to change one wastegate on my 2 on3 turbo builds as it was starting to boost creep/spike. I guess if there was any issue with their kits that would be one of them. Regardless good luck with your build. Most people that say On3 is junk are those folks that expect to make numbers like I do by locking the distributor and adjusting fuel pressure. That's the OLD SCHOOL way of doing it. When we didn't have the tuning abilities we do now. The only fitament issue I had with this whole kit was the Ypipe. Where the flow tubes for the mufflers (when I used to run them) attached to the back of the Ypipe it seems the ypipes flange area was too large for my 2.5 inch flow tubes. I just custom bent my own straight pipes on one car and made my own 3" down pipe on the other. If you run mufflers don't run chambered mufflers. You will suffer quite a bit of HP lose due to backpressure. If you run mufflers you have to run straight thru design or just don't run them at all. Good luck!

Im planning to put GT40X 64cc turbo swirls in with the Cobra intake and E303 cam as my top end. What size injectors should I get for the engine? I know I will need a 75mm tb if im not mistaken. Will I run into issues if I wanted my rebuilt 302 to top around 500 horses? I heard some have said the blocks wont last long and can split in half which makes me worried for my first build. I plan to have a professional dyno tune it for me as well. Thanks in advance :)
@Neomustangs
@Neomustangs 8 лет назад
+Stephen Michaels Probably the most important mod you should do to a boosted 500 hp 302 stock block is getting the custom tune burned chip at a dyno. Period. And with someone who is reputable about those kinds of builds. We spend thousands on our cars to go fast but we always run out of money before a dyno/custom tune to make all those things work properly together.
@Numbah893
@Numbah893 8 лет назад
I do know a couple places that can get a dyno job done for me here in the state of Alabama. My uncle has had a built turbo foxbody that pulled 600-700 horses and its what made me want to turbo my first 302. I just don't want to go over 500 because I'm afraid the stock block I have would split where I would have to fund for another block even though that's part of building a fast mustang.
@Neomustangs
@Neomustangs 8 лет назад
Well its all about tune if you want to make power. And if its dialed in right you can do that with moderate timing and even pump gas. Timing and fuel secret ingredient with tune to make it last.
@Numbah893
@Numbah893 8 лет назад
+Neomustangs that is exactly what my uncle has told me. he only said it just depends how much you floor it around the streets and drag strip. if its all about your tuning, how much fuel and air you have for the engine, I'll be focused on that as well. money is not really an issue for me as I'm 20 and still grateful to be living with my parents that understand what I'm planning on doing with one of my favorite mustangs I've always wanted.

I've got a 92 5.0 lx that I'm getting ready to start working on. I was advised by someone to not got over 400hp on the stock 2bolt main 302 block. I was contemplating getting a 4bolt main 302 block, but I certainly don't want to spend $ unnecessarily. Looking at this vid, it certainly seems like the stock bolt is delivering the goods. I want to be able to run 500hp safely/reliably. I just want to do it right, whatever that means. What's your take on the limits of the stock block? What would you recommend in regard to the 2bolt/4bolt dilemma?
@Neomustangs
@Neomustangs 9 лет назад
Aberamentho2010 The question isn't the block. Its the builder and the tuner. Spec'd right, cleaned up and mic'd properly a new fresh stock block can make 500 pretty reliably for years (like my black car has done for 5 years now in my other videos) but the MAIN ingredient is a tune! Actually theres nothing wrong with that build nor the one I did before it, The black GT Turbo in my other videos. I have been doing this for years and although I appreciate your concern and I can understand how you wouldn't believe this sorta thing but the proof is in the pudding. these are good motors and the tune is everything, if it works don't fix it right, maybe this will give me some more courage to turbo or supercharge my 347, no mean to insult, the car sounds awesome and i'm sure is a beast from this video
@Neomustangs
@Neomustangs 9 лет назад
Ya the motors are definitely good. See the 302 block got a bad wrap years past due to the weakness of being able to handle pre-det and detonation. Due to lack of tech/tuning and programing sorta was the culprit. The tuning and technology available today really shows its true colors. Not taking away from those that have spent the money on their engines, but You really don't need crazy stroker builds or alum heads/cam combos to make power anymore. Sure you can make that power a little easier, maybe less timing or boost, on the stock block but regardless theres still a threshold of its limits and doing it w/o emptying your wallet is superior than running out of money ya know. That's all we did here. Theres always people out there that say "no way man" but in all actuality the proof is in the vid. That black GT is a freak (the one in my other videos). I haven't touched the bottom half of that motor and its still together and last year was its 4th year. Probably 300 passes on that car no shit. This blue car in the video has sense got a nice paint job and we actually took the motor out to do a 351 junkyard roller motor. We are building a clone lightning truck block and with a turbo kit going to push those old cast alum pistons and block to see what we make!!!

He linked me to your video and honestly I can't believe this car lol. Amazing. So I want to leave you a list of what's done to my motor and you tell me what I can expect to make hp wise as safely as possible. 306 withSRP flat top pistons and forged rods Holley heads with o rings (requires wire lock head gaskets) Systemax Intake comp cam xe 274 hr cam. Can I safely achieve 500whp with that setup? I can not justify dropping 13k to swap a coyote in it if I can spent 4k-4.5k to do the on3kit and have 500 reliable rwhp. This video has me so excited. And another question. I'm not familiar with turbo setups. I know a lot of Guys are running straight tailpipes, no mufflers. I have a very expensive magnaflow stainless steel catback on it now. It's the straight through design. They look chambered but they aren't. Would I be ok to run them without lagging the turbo?
@Neomustangs
@Neomustangs 9 лет назад
That's situational basis on the chambered. If you ordered the ypipe upgrade with the kit you could tune it with the cut out and take it off while its tuning and make that decision later. If it lags it up quite a bit then I would say take them off. If you don't have any mods at all. You will need to get a in tank pump at least 255 and at least 42#' injectors. We can sell you all that stuff outside of the kit. Whats your contact, or email?

My black GT turbo in my other videos is on year 4 no split. Block wore the turbo out! Im gonna refresh it this winter. Oil starting to drop meaning bearings are probably starting to wear out im sure. No big deal. Still runs 10s. The black GT makes the same HP. Its all in the tune. It wasn't the money or the cheap route I took. I went the route of "why not try that" see what happens combined with a great tuner equals this.

We don't send anyone our tune files. You can bring it here or contact Dave from super coupes unlimited and Kevin from Ti DYNO for all that. My files stay in my laptop

Yours probably wouldn't yep. Mine still runs strong years later. Know how to tune and it won't split at 500. Don't comment if you have no idea

+Neomustangs blocks are good for around 500ish whp. I already know a good tune is key.

+Derek Recore just cause you say they are good for 500 that's it then it don't make it correct friend. If you know how to tune and already know then you wouldn't be saying blocks are only good to 500. You'd be asking more intelligent questions like "what's total timing " and what fuel mix.

+Derek Recore I'm flattered and appreciate that. It just gets old with people nah saying ya know. You get some people that think I'm doing some sort of ninja trick and not telling anyone lol. Just using the technology provided and know how is all. No tricks.
