One thing i can recommend is using course valve lapping compound with scotchbrite, and then fine with a rotary power cone nornally used for auto detailing. I used that to clean the caliper and piston on my 87 ninja 750r, and it worked wonders!

I feel your pain on the bearing removal. Pretty damn clever with the tool you came up with!

Thanks Matt, I flogged a dead horse for too many hours on them before I came to the realization I needed to make something. I’ll keep it handy for next time.

Excellent work. Your organizational skills are on point. My disassembly/reassembly protocol is having 2 of the same bikes I'm restoring. Lol. Not ideal, but it works.

Wow! Thank you for the instructional outline of that mud guard fitment. I have been looking for a 1990 guard for over a year, so hard to find. Your channel is the best!!!

Thanks for watching and commenting , You’re welcome. MotoForza in Czech Republic can get you a hugger, I found the service very good and shipping was fast. You can buy black or white (cheaper), and since I needed to modify and paint it anyway, I got a white one

@@true-moto-resto Thank you sir. It seems 1989-90 zx-750 parts are the hardest to come by, I just purchased the hugger! If I could just find the side reflectors and the center rear faring piece!

@@ronengle9524 they told me they didn’t make them anymore, They’re not listed in their website. I bought my solo cowl from there but it took the 3 months to get it done. I’ll have to enquire again on the rear hugger.

Hey, perhaps with a wheel bearing as tight and inaccessible as this I would have tack welded a nut that spans the opening in the bearings inner race in 2-3 locations. Screw a bolt in the threaded nut to attach the earth strap too. Then either use a puller bolt and slide hammer to withdraw the bearing or tap the nut from the other side to knock it out. Not ideal but should work. I love your thoroughness and never give up approach. Goodonyou

Hi Ron, any chance u have found a good fit for a replacement battery that is a sealed unit or AGM/hell ? The stock YB12AL-A2 that I see is a lead acid battery and any sealed units I find won’t fit as they’re slightly too big.

@@true-moto-resto no. I have not gotten that far yet. Piecing the 2 zx7s together. It's taking time to find all of the parts
