That’s my dad in the blue tank top at the back of the boat. Thanks for posting this! We had it on VHS. It makes me chuckle every time I see it! It weirds me out that they say it’s a 1990 commercial. It was filmed around 88 when I was 3 and we left Miami, not 90.
My Daddy was in the coast guard in the late 80s and early 90s. For 6 years to be exact. in the vhs tape of the ship that the people tried to burn before the Coast Guard could get there, the ship had DOZENS of barrels of diesel that were burnin. An officer sprayed the fire with a big water hose to keep the fire from growin, so my Daddy did not have time to get his fire equipment on and he went into the burnin ship and found MASSIVE AMOUNTS of drug boxes, and my Daddy started to pass out from all the diesel smoke ( I think you can see it in the vhs tape ). All of the crewmen on the firefightin boats and rescue boats that were watchin all went down on one knee because I think they thought my Daddy may have died when he passed out, but I don't know, I have never gotten to see the vhs tape but I have heard stories.
I did six years in the US Coast Guard. To this day I wish they would redo these damn ass Commercial and the unform sucks. Marines have the best looking by far.
@@callanjay yeah I remember Islamorada , I was stationed in Miami at the time. , guess I was looking at the statement as talking about service wide corruption, not like what happened at Islamorada
@@victorcarter5263 This had already happened by the time I came in in 1987. Thanks for the spelling correction on Islamorada. I later knew people who were around these guys back when it was going on. They described it as petty officers living a really flashy life, real Miami Vice stuff.
