I didn't grow up on any of these estates, but going to school in Wembley, I knew of the reputation that Chalkhill and Stonebridge had from friends who lived there.

I lived in Stonebridge estate back in the 90s (the naughties), not going to lie it was an absolute breeding ground for gangs and drugs. Nightmare when you actually live on those walkways …. I am still haunted by the echos of hearing them hanging outside my front door smoking weed all night. Even the police wouldn’t come if you called them. It was just a no-go. Please, someone that actually lived there confirm I’m telling the truth. Looking back, at age 49. I am depressed and suffering from mental health till this day and I truest believe it was bc of growing up in that environment. I had a tear of happiness when I saw them knock the block down

I lived here from 1985 till 1998. It had it moments for me, both my children were born and raised here and both have turned out to be decent, hard working people. I'm sorry you are haunted by your memories of the notorious concrete jungle.

Unknown user I believe you, for police not willing to attend the Stonebridge Estate when called you know it was pretty bad.

Can only imagine. I grew up in the late 90s and 2000s in Neasden. I heard and knew about the reputation of both the Stonebridge and Chalkhill Estates. It was certainly much more dangerous in Neasden, Stonebridge, Wembley and Brent in general back in the 90s and 00s than it is now. I got sticked up at 10 years old and nearly robbed on Quainton Street by other kids a bit older than me lol. The McDonalds saw a shooting when I was a kid too, remember the police presence that day. When your young it just becomes normal to you but later on you realise it can leave trauma and it is fully mad. Fully wishing you the best in trying to navigate your life with the trauma.

Looks like Stonebridge and Chalkhill estates were almost identical. These buildings are so fascinating to me.

Stonebridge, Chalkhill and South Kilburn all look identical because they were designed by the same architect department at Brent Council and built simultaneously between the 60's & 70's.

I hope the lady who is speaking about 'moving off' brought her own property as mentioned in this video. She seems like a really good person. I remember Chalkhill exactly like this.

Did you live there? I lived in one of those council flat apartments after my parents split. I remember ants! They would come out more during the night. Never used the downstairs loo very much as we had an infestation there.

I grew up on Stonebridge Park estate ,my aunty Theresa has lived on Grahame park since it was built and my brothers best friend grew up on chalkhill estate. My mum moved us to Harrow after living in Stobebridge 30 years. The year after we moved to Harrow a man was found murdered burnt to death in a car outside our flat. Beyond that event I have nothing but good memories of living there thanks to my mum who never was in trouble with the police in her life. None of the offspring of my mum and aunty Theresa have been in trouble with the police despite growing up on those estates.
