All those different cars, with completely different configurations, yet the racing was fantastic. Compared to the two "brand" one chassis bullshit they dish up now.
The racing in Group A wasn't all like this and most of it was a one horse race. First it was the Ford Sierra's which wasn't even sold in Australia then it was the Nissan GTR. Fans stayed away so the category changed to racing under Group 3A rules while another category raced under 2 litre Touring Car regulations. The fans followed Group 3A and so the 2 litre category didn't last long. To put it simply most fans want to see the battle between Holden and Ford and that is how Supercars has ended with the cars we have today.
Group A racing, Australia's V8 Commodore versus the world, heavier car, and less power, they punched well above there weight, by far the best sounding car out there!
