1991 Dodge Ram W250 12V Cummins 5 Speed (1st Gen Cummins) 

One little suggestion, look into adding an extra quart of oil to the transmision, the Getrag 5 speed in these trucks had too low of a capacity and would starve 5th & 1st gear of lubrication while idling. DTR & Cummins fourms have a lot of good threads on this Mod. I have run the Extra oil capacity on my 92 for over 400,000 miles now. Nice truck by the way, I think you got the best part of that trade. The value of those first gens have really gone up in the last few years.

The hole missing part is the ash tray and lighter with track and panel great truck looks clean I'd drive it everyday!

I have two 1st gens on the farm and wouldn't trade them for a new one if they give it to me. Yeah they ride like a lumberwagon, have zero ''luxuries'' they're slow stock, but super reliable and I can fix anything on them myself. Love your truck It's in WAY better shape than mine. I need to paint them big time haha...thanks for sharing!!!

Put a couple of layers of Dyno Mat down and it will quite it a bunch and put some first gen buckets in there and you will love it a little more! Also that getrag needs to have an extra quart of synthetic oil in it to keep the trans alive! Standard is 4quarts.so add an extra quarrt!

Change the governor spring and add a fuel pin complete diffrent truck you came out winning that guy who wanted the Chevy is on crack you got the jackpot there

Cool story! The Chevys that year are very good trucks. Be careful of the Getrag, they are fragile in that truck. Input shafts like to strip teeth off. Better trans would be NV4500 or NV5600. You can soften the ride with some spring modifications and make it ride WAY better. Don't go more than 3,200 on a governor spring. A different (16mm) turbo housing and a little more fuel can get you 50 more HP. Change ALL fluids to synthetic. Replace the rims with the stock size with tire. Clean the fins on the radiator, trans cooler etc. DO NOT use aftermarket air filters. Use the original factory ones. Adjust the valves. Don't be surprised if it gets 24 MPG at 60 MPH. Should be a very good truck! 👍
