Sports Cards over the Years have always been filled with errors. We are going to go over them all. Baseball, Football, Basketball. Grunttalksmlb.com #Sportscards #Errors #Grunttalks
Just watched the video. Great stuff. I finally am putting together this set looking for all the holo variations that I have in my inventory. I am confused about the description of the 1990 baseball, 1990 hockey sticks, and the comic ball holos. I have two barely viewable holos for one of the cards. One has small "90"s next to each other. The other has a large "90". Can you tell me which versions these are? I don't think they are the hockey sticks. Thanks and I look forward to watching your other error/variation videos on cards. I love collecting these. Just subscribed to your channel.
Hi buddy, Thanks for your patience in my reply, I was traveling when you commented. I warned my viewers about going down this hologram rabbithole! jk I looked over my resources when I made this video, and I only found one size to the "90". It seemed very large, but, then again, I had no other variations to compare it to. It's possible different size "90"s were on the same "sheet" when the holos were cut out. But then why are we mainly seeing the one size? This is where my knowledge is limited... I have a resource for you. You may have already seen it. It's a message thread (albeit several years old) about the different holos. I believe the dude talking about "reverse 91" holos is in error, as the sheet that UD cut the holos seems to have BOTH regular AND reverse holos when they were cut out. But he SWEARS the reverse holo is a thing. Some guys argue with him, but he doesn't relent. Check out the thread, there are a TONNNNNNNNNN of scans from the 1991 UD baseball set. I hope it helps. www.freedomcardboard.com/forum/threads/the-official-1991-upper-deck-hologram-variations-thread.92063/ Don't forget to emerge from your rabbithole, get some sun, and spent time with your loved ones. Thanks for the sub! Hit me up if there's any other error questions.
@@Hungryman97sCollectibles Thanks for the reply. I'm going to check the 1990-91 hockey cards to compare their holograms and see if I can dig up the Comic Ball. It's possible that both that I asked you about with the "90" are these two as I found the "baseball" hologram which has actual baseballs in it and I also have an example of the 92 diamond hologram. I'll reply again if I find my answer.
Those would be cool too hang on to! Upper Deck wrongbacks have got to be pretty rare... I unlike topps. I don't think I've ever seen one. A quick ebay search "upper deck wrong back" shows some double stamped cards, but no wrongbacks.
I have got two 1991 Upper Deck Baseball card error cards #484 (Terry Pendleton) and #490 (Roy Smith). The error is two Upper Deck Holoseals and both are out of place, and one upside down on the cards. Are they worth anything?
With over production of these junk wax cards UD had some quality control issues. The holograms were commonly out of place or even missing. May be worth a buck or two, but nothing great. From a grading point of view, crooked or missing holograms are less valuable. When you say upside down, do you mean the letters within the hologram? Or the "base" shaped hologram itself? If you mean the letters, then that's normal. If you have an entire hologram upside down, that's really cool and I've never seen that!
I have a 91 UD Dave Stieb #106 without the hologram. I know the card is authentic because I bought it in 91 and opened the pack. how rare is it? Would it be worth anything additional?
That's pretty cool. I'd hang on to it if it was mine. But missing holograms were pretty common for UD. Worth a couple bucks at most. Search on ebay "91 upper deck missing hologram" and you'll see several.
Are ones that have a seam going down the hologram (it looks like two different holograms in the shape) worthwhile, or is that common? I only ask because the 91ud box i just opened had a few defect type cards
I don't think that is common at all. I haven't see that particular variation but nothing surprises me about these holograms issues. A quick search on Ebay didn't yield any similar results. You might be able to get some money for them on Ebay but I doubt anything to get real excited about. Thnx for the comment.
