Love how Smiff tv... post the full race🏁⛽ vídeos with the retro commercials. Love to watch it📺 with the boys and a couple of classic coors banquet beers🍻 on the big screen tv.
Someone mentioned on racing reference this was possibly the race that special K and other drivers figured out to downshift that became the norm later on at Pocono
I remember DW telling a story five or six years ago about him and others shooting the breeze while waiting for their turn to qualify. DW said Mark Martin came off of turn 3 and his engine was screaming before it leveled off. DW screamed, "Did he just shift! Did he just change gears at Pocono!?" It could very well have been this race weekend he was recalling.
hoo the version Lumina of Hut Striklin raybestos brake it's rare to see in race in general he run with oldsmobile at the time. The Snickers car run by rick wilson was so cool your paint scheme
3:23:07 Is this the Hendrick employee that was in attendance, at the HMS suite outside of Turn 2, at the 2024 Martinsville Spring Race, when William Byron won on the 40th anniversary of Hendrick Motorsports 1st win? I'm thinking this was the elderly former HMS employee that Michael Waltrip interviewed on the FS1 broadcast. The name Frank Edwards sounds familiar maybe for that reason perhaps?
Fast Forward 32 Years and Hooters returns to Victory Lane at Texas Motor Speedway at the hands of Chase Elliott who Ironically is The Son of The Driver Alan Kulwicki Edged Out for the Championship 5 months later after this event
They had provisionals and used them on who? Harry Gant and Red Farmer failed to qualify and they gave the provisionals to WHO? Scott Herberg? You gotta be kidding me. If Farmer and Gant were in the race WHO would the fans cheer for the loudest? Gant and Farmer OF COURSE. What a gyp
The fastest race in Pocono Raceway history in terms of NASCAR is over 145 MPH, set by Jeff Gordon in June 12th, 2011 (penultimate 500-mile race for NASCAR at Pocono). In IndyCar I witnessed Juan Pablo Montoya set it when he won in 2014 at over 202 MPH.

Dale Earnhardt had lots of Momentum going into this race! Second in points! But it was engine problems in this race that turn his season around! 2 races dead last finishes at Daytona and Talladega sealed it!
Davey comments in his interview (3:39:39) that he had to drive most of the race with one hand because the trans kept jumping out of gear. Pretty ironic considering how he would have to drive after the second Pocono race...
