I have around 15k on it now. No problems at all. I cant believe the power it dynoed out at 118hp and 120 tq at the rear tire. I did put a supertrapp on it because it was too loud for the law, it makes better power with the supertrapp. It would cost more to mess with the stock motor, take a video of yours running and then pull it out and sell it should get a grand that will lower your cost of replacement to a basic overhaul or so
how many miles do you have on the engine? how do you like it, any problems? I have a 98 springer and i'm trying to decide to soup up my engine or put a 120 in? I love the sound!
I still have it. There is 20k on it. Every spring I pull the lifters and inspect a shop here had seen several failures of the lifters and recommended that a annual check should identify before failure. All said a great motor. Crazy power just cracking the throttle is enough for most riding. It will push the older bagger frame well beyond its design. At over 130 it gets squirmy
I hear ya. Is it a 5 speed or 6 speed? I have a 2004 Road King that I built up to a 95" with head work. It's fun, but could use that extra gear on the highway. Once you get past 85 or so, you really start getting up in the rpms.
its a 5 speed. Considered a 6 the extra gear would be nice. One major no-no with these motors is lugging them. Under 2200 and it bucks, not good for the longevity
