I was at that tyre test. Stood at Bridge corner. That was before they decimated it and put in the awful chicane at Abbey Curve. Exit of Bridge was a mind-blowing place to watch qualifying between 91-93

This is a real "feel good" video. You and your mate on a day out with your Dad (or your mate's Dad, not sure from the description) having a great time watching the cars charge round Silverstone and enjoying the noise, then what looks like a beautiful summer's evening getting your autographs and seeing the cars up close. I can tell this is a cherished childhood memory for you and to think your friend went on to live the dream by racing in Indy Car is incredible. Thanks for sharing this with us. If only the sport was like this now.

Back when one could casually walk into a garage to ask for an autograph. Imagine trying to do that these days during a test session. Amateur footage videos from the distant past always make me feel like I'd be in those situations physically, even when the footage is old enough for me not to have even been born yet, lol.

Wow! I have not seen this before. I was there so I’m looking to see if I can see myself and a colleague. We had been to Jordan GP in the morning for a wander round. We were then invited over to the circuit. Took many images that day. Alas, all lost in a house move.....

Yup, lovely sound... pity about the auto boxes though. F1 died when we moved from the Industrial Age into the IT Age, along with "Green" regulations and H&S. No such thing as a Grand Prix car now, they're just computers on wheels

What really strikes you in this footage is the sheer accesibility for the fans...I recall 2 years earlier have a similar walkabout on the Friday before the '88 GP there...Now only moronic celebrities who have little or no knowledge or interest in the sport seem to get access...😒
