Ahhh yeeeeaaa. I remember being at this race for the weekend. Privateer Jeff Glass, (starting at 17:10), had what may have been the first "outside", (of the industry), sponsorship with Surf Laundry detergent. Saturday night before the main, the racers were introduced with their face on the screen, and Glass said, "My name is Jeff Glass, and I am here to kick some azz!". Sunday night before the main: "Well I said I was going to kick butt last night, and I didn't do that well, so I am not going to say that tonight." :)
MC in the heat race was just a sign of what was to start in '93. Bradshaw didn't just blitz by him. Stanton was a tough, meat and potatoes rider, but a boring champion. People were ready for MC's dominance
