I loved the 1st generation S 10 as a kid, and I still like them today. At the time, I was also a fan of the 2nd gen S 10’s, too. I don’t think the styling of the 2nd generation has aged well today. The 94-04 trucks are objectively ugly, and not a classic style like the 82-93. Those 1st gens look like an 80’s C/K 10 full-size pickup had a baby with a 90’s C/K 1500 and it still isn’t grown up. 3 great body styles of pickup trucks.
I got an 03 S10 and a 94 Ranger. The S10 has 99k on it and it breaks down every other month. My Ranger has 114k and runs like a champ, it'll start up in -30 like it's 70° out, meanwhile my s10 has valve train tick like crazy if it's under 30° (I'm using the recommended oil change it every 5k and have perfect oil pressure)
But like that one commercial said, that Ranger looks a lot like the '93. Sure it might've been a good truck in '93 but the '94 S10 has an all new design and a bunch other stuff I don't remember...
This sounds exactly like the guy that buys a base model yukon and says I don't like the way it looks or the leather seats. But I bet if the Denali was the same price he would definitely get the Denali
@@mildbill222 lol u Chevy guys r funny. 250k on my pushrod 4.0 ranger and still purrs like a kitten. Funny how my friends S10 with the infamous garbage spider injectors and 4.3 spit two rods out the front of the oil pan. But yet lemme guess ur gonna reply "4.3 is way better best engine ever it's a 350 minus two cylinders". Yea the throttle body injected ones are good but the fuel injected ones not so much.
I think time has been the judge of this. I live in Utah and my state is rough on vehicles. There are old rangers everywhere, literally. I rarely see an S10 on the road.
Reality is, Ford hit a home run with the Ranger back in the 90s. Not only they sold every one they built and they actually had it built in 3 assembly plants in MN, KY and NJ to keep up with demand. Yes, the S10 outpowered the Ranger most of the time and the 98 re design is my favorite from that era (actually one of my neighbors has a 2001 LS Crew Cab in mint condition). But they were too little too late with that one. Ford was selling 400K Rangers a year while there were new players from Toyota and Nissan. And you still see more old Rangers on the road than S10s. The rest is history.
