Once a race car, always a race car!! These vintage thoroughbreds will always perform well.... and look soooo much better than all the modern buggies at the same time! Great job on the rebuild mate. 👍 👍 👍
Agree! This one had more pace than I had assumed it would for sure. Think that flexible chassis was a big help for the track conditions this day. Always appreciate it brother.
That was pretty cool. Very interesting to watch the Ultima II go around. I have the Turbo Ultima, before the two, same body, original rail chassis but with thicker gauge metal, and platinum shocks. Can't say I'm a fan of the later chassis so much.
Great run footage as always and the buggy ran great! ON a slightly drier day it probably would have nabbed the top spot but like you said, just no helping the weather! I loved the slow motion shots as always, great job!
Thanks for another Ultima video! My favorite 2wd from the 80’s. I was wondering if you could do a series of “Backyard Tuned” videos where you can make several rounds of set up changes that would tailor the car to your specific track. It would be fun to compare the out of the box tune to the “Backyard Tuned” times.
Awesome. Your track is just like the kind I use to race on as a kid. I always wanted an Ultimate Pro. I love the look. You did a great job on the body. You did have me worried, watching it handle on the track, that it would beat my favorite Team Losi. I love the iconic Gold shocks. If i remember, you had to pull out the dog ball to adjust the diff. Lastly, was there a different in the platinum shocks or was it just color? Thanks.
Thanks so much brother. Was pretty surprised with its final result as well. It's a really fast buggy. The plat.shocks have externally adjustable valving. From what I understand the golds actually worked better back in the day. They feel amazing...I'll tell you that. Appreciate the support.
I run Schumacher 2.0 tires on everything "pro". I also try and run 2.0 rims where i can because its closest to the size of most of the wheel dimensions most of the pro cars ran then. I can stretch the Schumacher tires over a 2.2 rim as well. Think they are called mini spikes. Currently on backorder but they still pop up from time to time. The 2.0 rims are unfortunately just ebay finds or come with used car buys. Imex is a good brand (ebay) to pickup some more inexpensive (new old stock) 2.0 rims.
I'm becoming more and more of a Kyosho fan every time I run one! I was pretty shocked with its performance but absolutely happy that it held its own with the big boys!
Thanks so much brother! I really enjoyed this one. The buggy was smooth and handled the not so smooth track conditions with ease. Appreciate the support.
Wow she looked very, very stable out there. Would be cool to see another run during dry track conditions. I bet there’s half a second to a second hiding in there. Though, I feel running the cars in a variety of track conditions shows true characteristics of them. Also very enjoyable. Scoreboard always reminds me of top gear 👍
I know right! Was not sure if the damp track made it faster or slower to be honest. It's such a great buggy and while I was skeptical about the flexi chassis...I think it was an advantage for the track conditions. Appreciate it.
