3:13:18 Junior gave Jimmy Spencer's car a trick intake manifold. It's evident more so here than at Daytona, because quite frankly I don't think he tried to be as conspicuous with the horsepower advantage. The last 30-40 laps, he blew everyone's doors off.
@@topmech71 Doubtful, handling was not a big deal even at Talladega in those days. Daytona, handling made a bigger difference and is likely why Spencer was not as dominant there. That or he was trying to be less obvious there. They did not have this big of an advantage in the Winston 500, their advantage was likely gained at Daytona.
I honestly think races that Dale Sr fell out of ended up being better. I think once he fell out the other drivers felt more free to do their thing instead of wondering what he was doing or where he was on the track.

@@fuckcensorship69 Please explain why the United States’ main enemy, the Soviet Union, congratulated the US for the moon landings then. The USSR had every reason to try and find evidence of a fake moon landing and it never happened.
@@gnnascarfan2410 you can pretend russia is the enemy, but A LOT OF RICH PEOPLE GET EVEN RICHER OFF OF THE MILITARY / space program...it helped lengthen the cold war, which was very profitable for both countries
I used to have the live broadcast on VHS. I was 5 years old at the time, and I discovered the tape when I was 12, the morning of the 2001 edition (EA Sports 500). I like the practice interviews 😄
Rusty Wallace had a bad qualifying effort and only completed 8 laps finishing in last place! How ironic is this, Rusty did so well in the Cup Series winning 55 races and 1 Championship and his two brothers never won a Cup Series race yet they both outqualified Rusty! Mike and Kenny also both ran the full 500 Miles while Rusty ran the shortest and fell out very early!
2:47:24 = Ned Jarrett - How hot is it in there Ricky? Ricky Rudd - Well, I sure wish I was at home sitting by the lake right now but I got something to look forward to when it is over I tell ya it is probably 130 degrees in here. Me - I miss this so much!!
It's a raw satellite feed. The broadcasters are getting ready to set up the music and graphics before the race starts. You don't normally see that on live TV. The old C band satellites were pretty cool back in the day. You could watch raw uncut live feeds before shows and news segments began.
What are you doing comparing these races to 2023 . They don’t have a clue about racing now and it’s a joke. To much politically supported they can’t even take a piss
