Ironically I taped this game on vhs tape and still have it to this day. I remember the Steelers beating the Browns 3 times in the 94' season. They also did the same thing to the Ravens who use to be the old Browns in 08' by beating them 3 times and then advancing to and winning Super Bowl 43. Total dominance by the best franchise in football. I love our Steelers!!!!#HEREWEGO!!!!!
I have this game on tape somewhere as well. Not sure if I even have a vcr to play it on anymore. The 08 games were hardly dominance bro. We could have Very easily lost both regular season games. Woodley saved the day on mnf and santonio barely got in in Bmore. That mnf game went down to a last 2nd fg iirc. Twas a great win tho. The next week I went to the victory in Jville on snf.
Imagine if the Steelers would've drafted Dan Marino, like they should have.Instead we had Mark Malone,Bubby Brister,Neil Odonnell,Mike Tomczak,Tommy Maddox,Kordell Stewart etc.
@@EdmacZ It's sad cuz the Steelers and Ravens have met in multiple playoff games and both have won 2 championships since 2000. The Browns had that 1 playoff game against the Steelers and that's it. Imgine if the Browns kept Bill Belichick and had Ozzie Newsome as their GM. 8 championships between the 2
Man loved watching these guys play. Grew up watching these Steelers. There df was so stacked back in the day it was awsome, back when football was football no bitching and crying about more money and when you could actually make a good solid hit on some one with out getting a penalty. Miss thoes days.
So agree with you. Ive been looking for this game plus many other games similar to this one off and on for nearly 3 years.. this made my whole year lol-)
@@mikekaroules2820 i still think that they would have won that game, if earnie mills would not have gotten hurt. We'll never know, but that pick to Larry brown would not have happened. Hastings cut the wrong direction. Mills would have been the slot receiver in that situation
@@RoonGang09 ; yeah ; you're probably right . Give him more play time and he will get better . Neil dumped the Steelers anyway. Another one who wanted way too much money .
Aaron Walls I always felt that if the Steelers had played the Dolphins they wouldn’t have taken them so lightly and beaten them instead of thinking they could just show up against the Chargers and win
@@robertzenniful If they would have stayed focused they would have went no matter who won that Dolphins/Chargers game everybody was pulling for Marino that year
Steeler fan but the 49ers were on a different level that year..... may have been close but idk.... we had a great defense but....... that offense was absurd
Dean Bowditch I know. That was the game. Unfortunately, the couldn’t beat Pittsburgh that year. You have to go back a few weeks before and lost to the Giants a week before they beat Dallas. That game changed everything. They could’ve went into Pittsburgh with a chance to win the division.
The Steelers were a more cheerable and intense team back then compared to today. With guys like Conner, Juju and Watt on the team now, and cancers like AB gone, maybe the Steelers can be a cheerable team again.
Randy Blythe stadium was more acoustically favorable. Those multipurpose stadiums always reverberated noise. I’d argue part of the reason teams lose at home in the postseason compared to the past is partly due to this.
One of my all-time favorite teams . They had awesome players on that team if they only beat the Chargers that year maybe they would have had 7 rings now
This was a really good Browns team, yet the Steelers made them look like a JV outfit. I don't know if the Steelers would've beaten the 49ers (not enough offensive "oomph", which is why they lost to the big-play Chargers), but it certainly would've been a competitive game.
Someone should send this video to Matt Canada and Mike Tomlin and tell them they should study how the OC in this game knew how to run the Pittsburgh Offense.Such great players all around on both sides.
I don't know if the Steelers would have beaten the 49ers in Superbowl 29, because Frisco was a stacked team, but I don't think Steve Young would have thrown six touchdown passes.
Yeah, those Browns were a true juggernaut, and they had ALL the women (my favorite bartender ever, Colleen, is a Browns fan and former Ohio gal; that franchise definitely has her heart).
Last great era of pro football. Now, it seems like every year they have to make a change to the league for no reason. If it's not broke, don't try and fix it.
Just so you know after Dallas was up 13-0, they managed less than 100 yards of offense for the remainder of the game. Their 2 second half touchdowns came courtesy of 2 Neil O'Donnell interceptions, and those 2 drives totaled 24 yards
@@keithclark7266yep and I still am furious after nearly 25 years about that....I recorded it and to this day have not rewound the tape....we had that game.....I was blessed to witness SB 13 and 14 cuz my late uncle got me hooked on Steelers football...
Even more so was the aftermath - when Bill Cowher had a falling out with Ron Erhardt........I recall in 1992, it was a big improvement over his predecessor Joe Walton. But Cowher wanted to go back to playing smashmouth football going into '96 and Erhardt was more or less whatever it takes, even if meant going 5 wide receiver sets and throwing the ball over 50 times a game.
@@stevecook180 That'll do it. You have to be careful with those gas station/ convenience store sandwiches. I remember when was a teen I worked at a Sunoco and we sold Guzzo sandwiches which is local Pittsburgh delicatessen. We'd have to sell them right up to the expiration date which was about a week. They were the best sandwiches when fresh but not so good after a few days. A coworker got severely ill eating a week old one. I would never eat one past 3 days
Back when you watched a Steelers game and not only did they look tough but they felt tough compared to now days it's like how many missed tackles or dumb plays on offense are gonna happen today
Watching this demolition job, I thought for sure the Steelers were Super Bowl bound. Yeah, not quite. Clearly, they were the better team than the Chargers, but the Chargers found a way to put just enough points on the board to win.
Yeah, the 1994 Chargers had a knack for making things happen when they needed them to happen the most, but apples to apples, I think the Steelers were better (and also had more staying power; by 1996 the Chargers were through as a playoff contender).
Rod Woodson #26 of the Pittsburgh Steelers Played 17 years from 1987-2003 (4 teams) 11x Pro Bowl selection 6x All Pro selection Super Bowl champion in 2000 1993 Defensive Player of the Year 1990's All Decade Team 71 career interceptions ranks 3rd all time. 1,483 return yards ranks 2nd all time. 32 career fumble recoveries 17 career touchdowns (12 interception returns, 1 fumble return, 2 kickoff returns, 2 punt returns). He holds the league record for interceptions returned for touchdown with 12. Earned All Pro selections as cornerback, safety and kick returner. As a testament to his work ethic and consistency here is what he did at age 37 in 2002. Started in all 16 games Recorded 82 combined tackles (70 solo) 8 interceptions (career-high) for 225 return yards 3 fumble recoveries 7 pass deflections 1 touchdown All Pro selection Pro Bowl selection Super Bowl appearance
This Steelers team was the best one since the 70s that year and sad we couldn't at least get to the Super Bowl because the Niners would have been really tough to beat.
Really unacceptable those early to mid-90’s Steelers didn’t win a ring. Steelers management didn’t do enough to go outside of the organization and get the missing piece (a QB in this case). Very stubborn and conservative group that stays inside of the lane way too much instead of making some aggressive moves and going for it now and then.
BobCat623923 cost Clev the division. I’ve seen it on here a while back. But the loss against the Giants a week before they beat Dallas cost us the division.
The irony was the following season - Art Modell screwed the Cleveland fans and moved the beloved Browns to Baltimore. Many picked the Browns to represent the AFC in the Super Bowl in '95.
@@robbie192 Easy there, Old Fart! It actually had a lot to do with the progress the Browns made in ‘94 going into ‘95. Yes, they went 0 for 3 against the Yinzers in ‘94 - could’ve gone either way in the 2 regular season meetings. The Steelers were not that much better than the Browns in ‘94.
While the Defense would hold it down. Neil O'Donnell and that one dimensional offense wouldn't be able to keep up with the 49ers. Nobody was going to stop San Francisco in '94.
The irony with this game is that it was named the "BOO" game because the Browns looked terrified..... AND this was the game that put the label of "The Dumbest Head Coach" in history on Bill Belichick. It was known league wide that Belichick was a brilliant Defensive Coordinator, but his head coaching skills was pitiful. Fast forward to 2019.
@@scottaznavourian5791 True. Now find when NE played Miami in 2000. That game was a test run for what ended up happening in 2001 right after Bledsoe got hurt. Miami complained of NE knowing their plays & audibles during the game. If you remember, Belichick was close to getting fired before Bledsoe was hurt, then his entire gameplan changed. Other teams began saying the same thing in late 2001. The 2001 AFC Title game against the Steelers, Steelers players were saying "It's like they know what we're running..." After the game All the players that played said that NE knew their plays, AND audibles. Joey Porter said that when they called an audible, Brady (before he got hurt) yelled out exactly what was coming. At that moment you're mind fucked... even with that, NE's offense didn't do much. Kordell said the same thing when they called their plays, then audibles. Ward & Burress repeated it. It threw them off their game. Now the steelers special teams that day was the reason they lost, but with NE knowing those plays, really helped. I say that to say this... ALL teams want the jump on plays, they ALL try to steal signals, but they don't know audibles. They can guess tendencies, but they don't know audibles . To know audibles, there's some sneak shit going on. It's shady, but you still have to execute. But if I know what's coming, I got the edge & it makes it easier.
@@Stankfunkmusic74 i remember in 2006 a year before spygate, nick saban, when he was coaching miami, did some shady shit vs the patriots and no one cared. When your losing no one cares lol but about bellichick....he lpobably still thinks hed have a dybasty even if micheal bishop took over in 2001....but hed be wrong
@@scottaznavourian5791 And Saban comes from the Belichick tree. Like I said, every team tries to get an edge, but some things are over the top. There's a reason that evidence from Spygate was destroyed before all eyes could see it. How in the hell NE was getting the actual gameplan & audibles for their next game? You already got film to study from prior games..... that's normal. You can study that, study their tendencies & that will give you a heads up on what they might do. But when you know what they're about to do, you got a serious advantage. It's been so bad that teams come up with dummy gameplans to throw them off. And if you've ever noticed, when NE loses, they looked shocked. With all of this said.... there's always an Atlanta & Seattle to overthink simple plays. Even the Rams in this last super bowl. Everybody knew that NE was gonna try to knock the snot out the Rams offense at the line of scrimmage.... except the Rams.
That game was lost on the first drive when Derrick Alexander dropped this two perfectly thrown passes. That would’ve took the crowd out and sent a message. I’ll never forget that game. I saw that first drive and had to go to work (Saturday afternoon).

@@killalltogepis9916Well. One more Super Bowl with Bruce Arians and New England's first consecutive years outside of the playoffs in 25 years later, how did this hold up?
Paul Maguire was terrible.. you can usually hear him cheering for one team or the other. Calls fouls from his seat as certainties that are far from it. It's just annoying as hell.
2:09:38 mark, they were celebrating a little too early. Still annoyed that the Steelers lost to that mediocre ass Chargers team. Disclaimer not a Steelers fan.
Three Rivers was definitely much louder than Heinz Field. I think Pittsburgh missed an opportunity to bring soccer to the city and Three Rivers would've been better able to accommodate it because of its wider playing field. If they try to do that now with Heinz Field, they would have to cut into the lower seating bowl in order to accommodate the wider soccer field. That being said, I like PNC Park much better for baseball than Three Rivers.
Very true, he got the video tapes and miraculously he’s wildly successful. All evidence of his transgressions destroyed by NFL before anybody on the outside could review it. Unprecedented penalties handed down to the coach and his team but it had little barring on the outcomes of games..sure. Truth is BB hasn’t won anything without an asterisks.
Noll Defense sucked from 1980-91. Cowher had some bad years too, 93, 98,99, 2000. Plus he was 2-4 in AFC Championship Games. Tomlin went 2-1. Plus Tomlin had to rebuild a aging Defense and Free Agency from Cowher and still has 154-82-2 Record in 15 years. Cowher has 149-90-1 in 15 seasons. Coach Noll 193-148.
