Man I wish the current Cowboys would watch these games for some inspiration! I get fired up watching these Cowboys from the 90s! Pat Summerall & John Madden best team ever to call a game! Man! I missed those days!
@@robogreek3157 Dak and Zeke chokes In big games; however I think the Cowboys need to go back to a fullback system like the Moose to help Zeke out like they did Emmit Smith.
@@jerryhouston5195 maybe so but if dallas could not reach a championship game with Romo... then they have ZERO chance with Dak. I love Dallas and always root for them but this is the only time in my 29 years of being a fan that I feel there is no point watching them. Dak, zeke, NEVER care when they lose. You can see that horrible feeling on the face of the great players when they lose. I CANT STAND DAK OR ZEKE because they make it so obvious it was only about money for them. Watch Aikman when he lost games or even Romo. At least Romo was playing through injuries because he wanted to be a champion. This cowboy team makes me sick aside from Parsons
The Angy Italian I agree with the defense part lol. And dak is ok. He has potential to be very good, he just needs to work on his reads better, and accuracy.
Salute to Eric Williams. He’s never mentioned today, but what a great right tackle. He held his own against Reggie White better that any other right tackle in the league! Reggie took over games, but Eric could piss him off and make him so upset that it was amazing to watch!
I was a young kid back then elementary School aged but even I could tell how dominant Eric was that being said though, another commenter was right he was never the same after the car wreck
Erik was pretty dirty. He routinely eye gouged and head slapped which are both illegal now and then. That being said, he had a chance to be an all time great right tackle.
Unfortunately 95 was their last dominant year and it wasn’t as good as the year before either really. Erik Williams was never the same after his injury and some guys left. Luckily they did draft one of the best OL of all time in Larry Allen in 94 and he really carried the load for the rest of the 90s. It’s crazy to think the best years the Oline had was before they got Allen somehow and he was better than all of them lol. Man if Williams never got injured him and Big Larry would have been insane.
@@mclohan That 1995 o-line was better then 94's. Other then a rusty Erik Williams it was loaded. Ray Donaldson played incredible until he broke his ankle against the Chiefs. Our o-line was still really good in 96' Irvin suspension, Williams injury, Smith playing hurt really hampered how effective they looked. 97' was a trainwreck. 98 and 99 were actually really nice bounce back seasons for our o-line.
@@jayfoulk2453 Yeah, it's a little easier to do that with the best offensive line in NFL history and when the defense is always keying off of Emmitt...
ONCE THE SALARY CAP STARTED, THE BEST PLAYERS WENT TO THE HIGHEST BIDDER, STILL ARE..'GREED OVER LOYALTY AND QUALITY'..ALL OF THE 'WEASELS', AGENTS, SHOULD BE RUN OUT OF TOWN ON A RAIL..FOR GOOD..THEY ARE NO DIFFERENT THAN AMBULANCE-CHASING LAWYERS..CON MEN AND LIARS, THEY STEAL FROM THEIR OWN CLIENTS, AND IT'S NOT A SECRET..GOODELL SHOULD BE WORKING AT A FAST-FOOD RESTAURANT, NOT MAKING $40 MILLION TO SIT IN A LUXURY SEAT AND BASICALLY DO NOTHING..IT'S JUST NOT WORTH THE BS ANY MORE..ALL POLITICS..AND JJ BEING HIS OWN GM IS ABOUT AS STUPID AS IT GETS..
jason frasher Yeah but Cowboys were never the same after JJ got fired. WTF was Jerry thinking? Know one thing he pissed off the the football GODS when was the last time Cowboys been in SB?
Correct, once you got Dallas in 3rd and long without Novacek, they had no answer. Plus starting out 1996, it didn't help Irvin was serving a suspension
I was never a Cowboy fan but I respected how good they were back then..I think if the injury bug doesn't get em in '94 they beat Frisco and possibly win 4 straight
@@Speegs23 You must haven't watched any football I been watching football since the 80's my niners had awesome team don't blame injuries every team have them what about 95 in the regular season niners had a lot injuries went to Dallas with Steve Bono and destroy the cowboys
Aikman said in his Football Life episode that the 94 Cowboys were better than 95 despite the 95 team actually winning the Super Bowl.....and after watching these highlights, he's right
They were basically the 1993 minus Ken Norton Jr and of course Jimmy. They were much less polished this year, but still so deep as a team they could basically beat anyone. They started 1995 out a house of fire, but midway through the season with injuries and Switzers coaching style, the cracks were really there, even though they were dominant in the playoffs.
Aikman to Irvin often set up a score to 80, 84, 85 or an Emmitt run. Particularly in 1994. They had depth, even with the injury bug plaguing them in 1994.
i always thought that Linemen should get paid the most…they are the only ones that are in on every play….and they use a crazy amount of energy on every play, by constantly pushing…. plus, no play can be successful without them.
That Green Bay team man for man was the most talented in football. They were stacked with pro bowlers. Highest scoring offense, signed Reggie white, but Dallas was a machine.
Dallas was far more talented until 96 when green bay won. By then much of Dallas team was gutted by free agency or simply got old. All those teams went through it
Irvin made a great catch and the ref ruled it incomplete. Replay clearly showed it was a clean catch. and IRVIN knew it. This is why many say the NFL rig games. Sometimes just to make it seem more competitive. COWBOYS DOMINATED their opponents then. Should have had 4 SB's in a row if it wasn't for the NFL. OR NOT. FILM DOESN'T LIE.
@@idfy2599 To this day I still think the cowboys were the more complete team. But in a one game playoff and you dig a 21 point hole. It wasn't their day
The irony of this 1994 Cowboys team was that it was probably better than their Super Bowl winning team of the next season. It was a great team. This 1994 team just didn't have quite the edge that immy Johnson had provided and trying to threepeat was not quite doable. By 1995,the 49ers were not as good as 1994,and the Packers had not reached yet their level of 1996-1997.
The '94 Packers were considered a disappointment - they did not take the step forward that they were expected to take (went 9-7 for the third straight season) and in a lot of ways were not as good as they had been in 1993. They needed Favre's famous TD run against the Falcons in the last game in Milwaukee just to get to the playoffs at all. After this drubbing people questioned if they would ever get any better than they were.
As great as the early 90s Cowboys were..this was one of their most dominating games in that era..Green Bay was still a great team Brett Farve..Reggie White HOF'ers..Mike Holmgren great coach possible HOF'er..but the Cowboys were awesome in every phase of the game..hell this team made Barry Switzer look credible..Them jerseys were special please bring them back
Great dynasty, great team. Great players on a greater team including coaches and staff...even the owner/GM... but the owner/GM has been trash since 1996.
Former 2nd overall pick Blair Thomas had his only real success in a playoff game. He had a couple decent games with the Jets but was probably one of the biggest busts of the 90s and just wasn't a good back but he came in and did a good job after Emmitt got hurt. The late Reggie Cobb also had a few touches in this game for Green Bay.
pretty simple. if we dont lose erik williams in the car wreck...and rookie larry allen doesnt play with a high ankle sprain in san fran the following week.. its a 3 peat. and the 4 peat would have been completed in 95.
The reason these Cowboys won 3 rings is simply because no Dfense could disrupt that Offensive Line with a healthy Emmitt. Had Emmitt been healthy throughout it would've been 4 rings in a row!
Alvin Harper was vital in a lot of these important games, remember the slant to Harper to keep Cowboys ahead of 49ers? No one these days remembers Alvin Harper, I wonder what he’s doing now!
I also get annoyed when people complain about how great the oline was. What do you expect an organization to do? They draft, trade and sign players needed to succeed.
Those were the days. This game was a war. Eric Williams frustrated Reggie White. Dallas gave it everything they had and win in spite of their awful coach. Two weeks later they’d have their last hurray. Then Irving and Lett got stupid. Jay’s back caused him to miss whole season. Emmitt wasn’t the same going forward. What a glorious run it was though. Jerry’s biggest blunder ultimately caused the team their three-peat.
The next week Dallas would lose to the 49ers in the 1994 NFC Championship Game, and the 49ers would beat the Frauds that are the Chargers in Super Bowl 29. The next season Dallas was back, after a strong start, they slipped up in December, but the game against the Eagles woke them up. After the loss in Philadelphia, the Cowboys would beat the Giants in Texas Stadium and travel to Arizona to put absolute beatdown on the Cardinals (the Cowboys were informed on the plane ride that San Fran had lost in Atlanta, meaning if Dallas won in Arizona, they would secure the number 1 seed), they would beat the Eagles, and the 3rd seeded Packers (who went down to Candlestick Park and beat the 2nd seeded 49ers) on their way to win Super Bowl 30 against the Steelers.
Fun Fact- Brett Favre never won in Texas Stadium. edit: I forgot how banged up the Cowboys were in these playoffs. I knew they'd be hard pressed to win in SF the following Sunday.
They had a bunch of fluky turnovers. If they showed up asleep they wouldn't have fought back. Dallas more talented probably not. Especially when you consider Emmitt Smith was gimped and Larry Allen was on one leg with Erik Williams out the season.
Favre could only hit receivers in the middle of the field at Texas stadium. Throwing to the sides he had picks and incompletions. Same thing if you watch the 07 Thursday night game. Except Favre through picks in the middle of the field that game since Demarcus ware and co we’re rocking his socks all first quarter. Which is ridiculous. But Favre was kind of a headcase.
The Cowboys played terribly the last month with injuries and the offense not getting on track. Well when the playoff started they were able to turn it on in the early 90's. The Packers still were no match for the Cowboys and had their chance in November when Aikman and backup Rodney Peete went out with injury yet lost to Jason Garrett and fell apart on defense in the second half. The game was over after the first quarter.
I wish the cowboys of old would come back and play a few games, then maybe the cowboys of new, would finally understand what we mean when you hear. How Bout Them Cowboys!!!!!!
I know they were already twice world champions, but looking at Emmett Mike just celebrating every catch every first down wanting it that’s what this team lacked. What a disappointment terrible showing they really should’ve gotten rid of the coach. You have a coach that can get his team ready.!!!
Dallas O line was extremely good, add to that Green Bay didn't have their number one receiver, that kind of slants the table in the cowboys favor and their in Dallas. Ya might want to cover Alvin Harper down the middle of the field, i mesn really.
@@THE1ONE2016 The NFL rule is: Once the ball is tipped, you can do whatever you need to do, to either catch the ball, or make sure someone else doesn't. This includes push, hold, hit, tackle, pull, grab, etc. Madden was correct. I'm a Dallas fan, and I knew the call was wrong, when I watched the game originally.
21:49 Can someone explain to me how that is a penalty? The ball was tipped so how can you be called for holding? When a defensive player grabs a potential receiver after the ball is tipped, it's perfectly legal.
