Bro I hope you know what an amazing find you got there...there are many many people who would write a check for that truck and put it in their garage forever.
You did great and know you’ve earned a lot of respect for appreciating a truck like that… especially at 17 yrs old. I’m 42 and drive an 04 F250 4x4 Powerstroke… clean, straight, and pulls whatever we put behind it. The older stuff is classic!
Is it just me or does anybody else feel like 90s interiors and rainy days go hand in hand? Inside of that cab looks so dang inviting on that raining day.
That's exactly what I told the owner of the truck when I got in Why does it feel so comfortable being in this truck when it's raining hearing the sound of the rain hitting the body calming me down after a stressful day and just making me forget about everything and relaxing just feeling like I'm safe it's cozy and it just feels right
Deep cuts bro... I never had this pickup, but my 91 turbo all-trac celica cruising the mountain roads in central Montana while it was raining just did wonders for my mental health. Miss that car dearly, got destroyed in a hail storm 😢
I had a 2006 F150 short bed regular cab 4x4 from Norfolk. I always took pride in being able to say I bought a vehicle from the closet final assembly plant, I had 287,000 miles when I traded for a new F150 in 2015. 4.6L 2 valve engines will go forever
Why am I watching this video with a big ass smile on my face? My dad had two of these trucks which unfortunately he ran into the ground because he used it for work. I'm currently looking for one to work on as a project but it's really hard to find on even in crappy condition.
Not my favorite decade for Ford , but I’m a little older. I can definitely appreciate that it is as clean as they come. I owned a 74 F100 that I put a 300 straight six out of an 84 model into, 3 on the tree, loved that truck. Had another 74 with an automatic, 302, and AC. As of now, got a 66 short bed Chevy sitting in my garage, gotta keep them alive
People think 90's is old. Still too new if you ask me. There's still modules that control the transmission and engine and they're aging and getting hard to find replacements.
That truck should also have the same recall for the cruise control switch like the panther platform. That is the exact switch that started it all. The first recall was for the switches with the red connector. I would look into that. It would be a crying shame to see it burn to the ground. Trust me I did a lot of research on that recall about 2 months ago when I bought my 97 town car.
I purchased a 94 F-250 with the 5 speed manual and 7.3L power stroke in 2004. I bought it with a lift and 36” tires on it. Hands down my favorite vehicle to date. It was easy for me to work on. I was a contractor at the time and when 2008 hit and I couldn’t find work that paid well I had to call the lender and tell them to come pick up the truck. It was a sad day. I have a 2019 Honda Accord and wouldn’t dare try to work on it. I’m on the hunt for a truck now as a second vehicle and was looking at 2010-2015 trucks, but this video is pushing me to look at 90s, thank you.
Black on Black too....I'm getting shivers. :D Too bad I can't find any up here in Minnesota without rust everywhere or one if not both gas tanks leaking. I'd hop on a truck like that in an instant.
If it’s anything like the 351m in my 78 f350 then you have a high gas bill bud. I averaged about 6mpg being conservative on the skinny pedal and no load hooked to or on it.
@@truckstuffmore875 High gas bill indeed. In the winter I've gone as low as 5mpg, averaging 8mpg and the best I've gotten has been 11.5mpg. but that was mixed driving. My commute is mostly city driving. Not the best for the old V8 but I have a 4banger side car for commutes now haha.... I just have to finish fixing it
Thats definitely a Gem and great price at that!!! Those were the days when pride went into every aspect and stage of the build!! That truck will last and love how it used to be easier to work on as well!!!
@@jsjizzaone3590 no sir. E85 tuned by palm beach dyno since 1,500 mi. Now has 18,000 without a hiccup and I beat the piss out of it, racing etc.. amazing truck.
I had a 96' 150 super cab short bed with the 351 and towing package and I loved that thing, so solid, and one of the best air conditioners I ever had in any vehicle.
Appreciate his respect for the family who sold him the truck and his love for the classic.❤️❤️❤️. Forget about owning one, we don't even get to see anything like that on Indian roads..😭😢
It's about the dollars. Large profits for Ford and Chevy trucks for people that want comfort, tech, and a smooth ride. Most haul nothing more than Walmart bags and kids in the back. I've ridden in new trucks and they don't seem like a truck, not like this one you just presented. Nice video!
Right on man, I think planned obsolescence is a huge factor, stuff like these old Ford trucks or the GMT400 models were maybe a little too reliable from the mfg point of view
Cars and trucks are literal time machines which are a reflection of the era. If they never changed, there would be no classics. Sometimes I really miss turning a wrench
Gosh this makes me miss my old truck. Got a new 1995 250 Power stroke with 6 miles in 95. It was a company truck that was treated like my own. This brings back lots of great memories. That was the best truck ever. About cried the day it got traded in for a van. I wish I could have afforded to buy so bad but wasn't in the cards. Thanks for the video and great memories it brings
9 miles to the gallon is worth it if you like driving it. My 2014 F150 gets about 15 city 19 highway on average (not too bad), but I love driving it. My wife has a Ford Edge that get about 20 city 26 mpg highway, but I still insist that we take the truck everywhere because I have more fun driving it.
I had the exact same truck but in a short-bed..it was dark blue not black..it was my very first Ford F150 I loved it. I remember it had a Dana 44 front end on it too..I bought it at Galpin Ford with 11k on it..back in 1995. The good ol' days.
I just bought my 1990 F250 Lariat with only 122k miles with the 460 to replace my 2016 F150 after I trade it in. I think 97' has the best look but most older fords are beastly. I bought the F250 for $7k. Haven't really had much time to work on it but it starts right up.
I worked at a Ford dealer starting back in 98, when these trucks were everywhere yet. Oddly I don’t remember really doing much of anything majorly mechanical as far as repairs. On these trucks. Just basic stuff like ball joints, u joints belts hoses, plugs wires , caps rotors, fuel pressure regulators etc. . Back in a time where most of the major engine repair were head gasket repairs on the 3.8 motors in the windstars, taurus, or thunderbirds. I remember when we would do a pcm reflash we still used the old blue Ford authorized modification ID cards under the hoods. Damn I miss those days. I didn’t even have any gray hair than lol.
I have had mine for 17 years it got a 4" lift kit old style ford rails and the ford emblem also 5.8 winder engine the old style fog lights fuel exhaust with chrome tear drops wheels (racing wheels) dash board cover same color red as dash
Great looking truck. I have a ‘92 F250 Supercab long bed with 79,900 miles. My friend is driving from Idaho to see it in Sacramento tomorrow. I’ll probably be selling it to him. Only letting it go because I bought a ‘95 F150 Supercab with 55,800 miles two days ago. Drove it 265 miles from the place I bought it. Originally ordered by the guy’s mom who sadly passed away last year. 5.0, auto, XLT, RWD. No receiver hitch. Bed looks like it was never used. Absolutely rust free. White with that 90s light green contrast color in the middle. Would like to put a 5.0 Coyote in it but it would be a shame to mess with.
I bought one of these recently on eBay out of California for $5300, 2wd 300 i6 though. Looks brand new in and out, only problem is the E4OD has given me a lot of ass pain. Had it rebuilt and it's still slamming going into reverse. Taking it back to he trans shop next week.
They all slam into reverse , I’ve had 2 in my truck and they both did that, if it does a second pause when you shift then get a “ thud-ink” sound and feel it , I’d say it’s normal, unless your overheating or slipping gear you should be fine, if it’s slamming all gears then I’m pretty sure you just might need a new valve body
@@LPWSzzz When the trans is hot it's such a slam that there's no way it can be considered normal, firm is one thing but it's more than that. Also when the trans is cold when you start the truck it stalls going into reverse as if the TC is dragging the engine
That is a beautiful truck. I have a 1994 it's in great shape and had it for 2 years. My friend that passed from pancreas cancer sold it to me for a great price. I love the color it's mint green or like a aqua. I always loved those body styles.
where i live there’s a bunch of these OBS fords on the road still today. makes me smile going down the road and seeing one driving past. ever since i got mine and fixed it up i’ve loved it and love driving it. truly great and simple trucks. feel like you can fix just about anything on them by yourself without too fancy of tools. plus you dont need an expensive scan tool for the obd 1 trucks. just need a paper clip and you can get the codes from it easily. it’s true they don’t make em how they used to
You hit the automotive jackpot with this! These f150s were absolutely rock solid! This truck will far outlast a brand new F150.... You got this for a steal! The seller didn't realize the value.
WOW What a gem that one is. In that kinda of condition I'd offer 20.000 to 25.000. the only weak spot on those were the shock and spring assembly on the driver side rot out, But those engines were the best that ford came out with if it was a winser - you couldn't kill them - they were like Timex watches takes a licking and keeps on ticking...
Very nice truck Luke, i see you will keep the old girl till death do you part, and kudos for that fella. If i may add, treat that 5.7 with a top full syn oil and top grade fuel and she won't let ya down. THANKS FOR SHARING FORD BOSS ME!
Fellow 9th gen owner with a 93 f150 5.0 e4od 2wd. Nice truck brother! I picked it up for $300 claimed it had bad rings and injectors. Sat under a shed for 8 years. Had 104,839 miles on it when I got it running with only a starter rebuild, spark plugs, wires, cap, rotor, fuel tank and sending unit, and numerous other smaller things not worth mentioning. Now I have 3 years and 121,815 miles on it. I have used this truck for a truck too but it’s still clean. Only thing I’m not proud of on it is the trailer brake connector and controller wiring I done in a emergency. But it’s hauled, towed, and been on road trips since I got her back into commission. Really clean body on it and VERY clean underneath nothing but light surface rust on the frame/exhaust. Looks immaculate could eat off it. I only have one major issue with it, the oil pan gasket was so old and dried up that it blew out just enough to cause a small oil leak on the drivers side right beside the I-beam. Been a very good loyal truck, I’ve had way more issues with my ‘17 Ford Fusion with 80k miles on it. Unfortunately fuel prices are going up and it’s going to be parked until I need to move the travel trailer or lawnmower trailer. I love driving it though.
Years ago I worked at a marina, and the boss had a 96 F150 and a brand new 2000 F150, and we all preferred the 96 over the new one. The nineties was a great decade for trucks. I love this truck.
I have almost the same truck. Mine is a 94 F250 tho, same engine, love it!!!! Mine has 300k miles on it tho but still doesn’t have a speck of rust! Front/rear fuel tanks, I love these trucks!!!! I am starting to have a couple issues with it and would love to see if you can give me a few ideas on which direction to go to fix it. It’s running super rich, idles fine but doesn’t have a lot of power when you first start accelerating and if you give it too much throttle, it falls on its nose. Engine is solid tho, no knocking, no ticks, etc. blowing a bit of black smoke from running rich. I’d be happy to pay ya a consult fee if you could lead me thru some troubleshooting steps. Anyways, these trucks are the best! I’m happy putting $10k into mine before I buy something new ever again! Awesome video man! Thanks for sharing
Nice ride! I’m the maybe 3rd owner Of a blue & white 95 F-150 4x4 5.8 with 4” lift on 33’s...my dream truck. Still has the original owners manual. I’ve had more offers on that truck than anything else I’ve ever owned.
I had the same year F150 Eddie Bauer edition. It was a really nice truck. The only issues with trucks of this vintage were the locking hubs on the four wheel drive. Replaced mine at 70,000 miles. The mechanic told me that it was a common thing with F150s back then. Mine had the 5.0 in it which was under powered and was the only reason I ended up selling it. If it had the bigger V8 I would probably still have it. Great truck!
1st Gen lightning owner here. It's a red 95 model, I wouldn't trade it for a new one, and that's being serious. 226k miles on the factory everything, had the alternator rebuild and new water pump and radiator and that's it outside of routine maintenance. Lowered her 2" and put on a set of 295/35/20 on the Gen 2 replicas from lmr. She turns heads every where I drive it.
I own a truck like that for little over a year now and has absolutely serviced me very well. Never left me stranded and always does the job. I bought mine from my neighbor when I was 16 year old for $300 because it was a non-operational. It's a soild red 1992 ford f150 4x4 custom single cab short bed with 300 straight six paired to a 5 speed manual transmission. All original 160,000 miles highway on and used to be owned by a trucking company. This truck means alot to me since it was my first pick up, first vehicle I've purchased and learned how to drive stick on. To this day it's still going very strong 🤩🤩
I liked my 85 F150, I learned how to fix a lot of things that broke on that truck myself! I also like my 2016 F150, even if it is one big computer on four wheels. They both have redeeming qualities!
You make me feel warm and fuzzy about my 95 k1500 Silverado! Family owned truck and she’s at 386k as of right now and she isn’t showing signs of giving up just yet. Original engine other than the rebuilt transmission that went out at 335k. Best trucks out there!
Beautiful truck, solid, tough and reliable! Back when trucks were trucks and built to last. The 80’s-90’s Ford and Chevy pickups were so reliable and lasted pretty much forever with basic maintenance. None of this overly complex electronics to wear out and cause CEL and all kinds of other issues. The steel and sheetmetal was thick back then too, the doors, hoods, tail gates, beds, all felt and were much sturdier and could take punishment. All the new trucks are garbage quality with plastic door handles and thin ass gauge sheetmetal and flimsy materials. I’m sorry but 4 cylinder turbos should not be in any truck that weighs almost 6,000lbs and possibly pulling trailers and expect to be reliable and last hundreds of thousands of miles. It’s just not possible. Excessive heat destroys everything over time, and 4 banger turbos are the worst at self destructing when pushed to its limits. Give me a good ole NA V8 that’s smooth as butter and isn’t so stressed when it comes time to haul a bunch of stuff. Sure gas mileage won’t be so great but at least the engine will last forever. Long live the V8 and old school engineering!!
WoW, just wow, A sixteen year old was offered $15k for his truck he just bought for $6200 and he turned it down because he didn't want to disrespect the former owner, and he knows he owns a rare gem. This young man has my respect to the fullest.
I bought my '95 F150XLT in '99 with 50k miles. 302, 5-speed short bed, 2 wheel drive. Got into a wreck in '08 thanks to a dumb broad who was high and ran a red light. Let it sit for 11 years and decided to restore it in 2019. Spent a fortune getting it back on the road but it was worth it. Love that truck and I'll keep it until they plant me.
Nice Truck. Looks like the 5.0L V8 motor and the refrigerant system is a first year R134a system. You would probably benefit the customer with a good A/C service. Great Video
That F150 is a beautiful truck! I have a 2003 Ford F-250 Crew Cab 4x4 Lariat short bed 7.3 Power-stroke white in color with 59,000 miles. In sits in my garage. I have owed since brand new 12/2002. I have been sick for last 9 years so the truck is only driven by my son-in-law every two weeks. Fastest truck I have ever driven and other changing the oil/filters, batteries (2), fuel filters and brake shoes twice nothing else has gone wrong with the truck. Note: I just changed the tires because they were brand new but 9 years old, BF GOODRICH 285/75/16.
Wow what a find beautiful truck love the rims , that's the last of the real trucks built now they plastic and aluminum not built last . They just pretty much a simple truck to work on and the amount stuff you can put on it are endless ,just wonderful.
That twink has a great truck .. keep as is i found one with a 460 manual transmission .. I replaced all 3 brake hoses (rubber ) changed out calipers And wheel cylinders master cylinder .. and all hoses and belts thermostat used wp lube to protect cooling system .. marvel mystery oil in fuel Truck is a 4x4 factory lift . (I was told 2 inch ) used only to pull Airstream. Bought at same time. Cat converter removed rear tank replaced Truck now has 36 k original miles .. better than new truck ... great video thanks
God I miss my 96 5.0 I had. It was my first vehicle and ever since I’ve been in love with OBS Fords. When I get the money and find a nicer one, I’m buying it the second I can. This kid is very lucky.
I've got a 93 GMC Suburban and feel the same. We rented a brand new Yukon XL for a vacation and my kids 8 and 10 both said they love our burb much more than the new one....
Agree with you man.The 90’s era of Ford and Chevy were damn good trucks. Still no nonsense purpose built. Miss those days man. Still affordable at that time as well.
Wish they still made them like this. The mid 90’s trucks did just as good on fuel mileage as the pos trucks do now with out the bells and whistles you don’t need. Or in my case don’t want.
I had a 1993 shortbox in black and it was my favorite truck ever. Unfortunately it was rusty when I got it and it only lasted 3 years. The interior was in immaculate condition but the body was shot, E4OD trans was weak and the rear diff was full of glitter when I sold it for $500. I've never found another one, that's life in New England.
