The a/c is working! Now theres a few things Im going to do to improve the AC as well. Take back down that evap and make sure I get all the crap out and spray it and clean it good. Tint, it will help keep some of the heat out of the car. And getting all new weather stripping to make sure the car is fully sealed. Shes coming along. Slowly but surely.

With the heat we have been having the last few weeks that a/c is gonna come in handy! Dad has a 97 Nissan truck that has the same problem with the a/c button! Most of those parts back then came from the same parts supplier in China lol! Trying to fix something like that is what I hate to do the most when it comes to working on a vehicle and my patience wears thin lol. IPs come from the supplier as one assembled unit and is installed at the factory as such so when it comes to trying to replace parts in the car that go bad over years can sometimes be a almost impossible task and can be nerve racking because you just cant get to things lol!

What a pain! If you dont want to replace the unit you could always bypass the button and mount a switch. I believe you just tie into the harness with the wire(s) from the switch. Personally id rather do it the right way and replace the whole thing I like keeping everything original. Thats just my opinion though.

@@isaiahbuelna765 Yeah I am like you and like to keep things original and fix things right so as bad as I hate to do that kinda work I will replace the whole unit once I have the chance to track down parts! Dad bought the truck new and he only has 63K original correct miles on it and he is hard to deal with when it comes to doing anything to the truck so the whole ordeal will be a pain lol! A couple months ago I replaced both headlights in the truck because it still had the original headlights in it that were burning but so dim that you could not see at night driving it. After I convinced Dad that both headlights needed to be changed out because of their age I knew that the grill had to be pulled to do the job and I knew that the plastic clips that held it in were rotten and would break when I took them out I tried finding new clips to replace them with and run into a dead end there - Nissan did not make them anymore and no parts places had them either or anything that resembled them so since the grill is very lightweight I replaced the clips with nylon hardware which didnt make Dad happy but I convinced him that they were actually better than the clips, wouldnt rust, and would hold the grille in just fine lol! At least he was happy after I was through because he could see when driving it in the dark again lol!

Not sure if anyone gives a damn but if you guys are bored like me during the covid times then you can watch all of the new movies and series on InstaFlixxer. I've been binge watching with my brother recently :)

how the hell were you able to unplug the climate control harness. There's a clip on the back of mine that I cant unclip because there's a big metal plate in the way. At 5:15, you see that clip on the harness, that's what I'm trying to unclip.

Once you remove bottom plastic cover unplug your cigarette lighter plug. Remove your radio and there should be 3 screws holding your ac climate control in. Make sure the harness is completely disconnected, after you get the cigarette lighter plug unplugged there should be two other plugs to disconnect. Once the harness is free pull ur ac unit out and the harness will come out with it. Then you will be able to unplug the green plug in the back and that other plug as well. Hope you get it. Most people pull the entire dash but thats unnecessary. Get the harness disconnected and free and remove the unit itself and harness will follow it out.

on my 95 Civic I can feel a bit of warm air when the setting is all the way cold so it make my AC not as cold as it should be. Would you know what could be the cause? I had the AC checked and the tech said the system is operating as normal. I just need to figure out why the hot/cold blend is bad.

Before you swapped it out, do you remember if the light inside the AC button would still turn on even though the compressor wouldn’t?
@isaiahbuelna765
@isaiahbuelna765 2 года назад
Yes it still would. These cars are notorious for the a/c button to go to crap. A lot of people bypass the switch and install a completely separate switch for it or uou can do what I did and try your luck on a new unit.

@@isaiahbuelna765 My issue seems to be intermittent. Kinda of odd. But the light inside the button still turns on, even though the compressor doesn’t. I’ve taken apart the control panel and cleaned the contacts in the fan speed switch with alcohol. I can’t seem to open it to clean the AC button contacts. I’m hoping this helps. Fingers crossed.

@@watts300 yeah man mine did the exact same thing. My a/c would cut on and work every once in a blue moon but the light was in and out. Like I said some people bypass that button and install a switch or you can replace the unit with ur fingers crossed lol

@@watts300 Im having the same problem condenser and clutch doesn’t activate when I have the ac button turned on from the inside the 1, 2, 3, 4, doesn’t click every time I go up or down it just kinda slides through and it’s supposed to click don’t know if that may be the problem.
@watts300
@watts300 Год назад
@@danielraygoza7842 Mine ended up being a problem that doesn’t seem anything like yours. Mine has a sticky heater valve (the one in the engine bay that diverts coolant to the heater core) and it also was just low on refrigerant. I took it to a second shop and they recharged it (since the first shop couldn’t figure that shit out) and they told me about the valve. So I disconnected the temperature adjuster cable that connects to the heater valve. The heater valve is closed. AC blows ice cold. When the season changes, I’ll reconnect the valve cable.
