So I ordered in a new upper control arm. hopefully this is an easy swap and fixes the issue. If not we move on to tightening the bearing nut and than maybe tie rods. Below is the part I ordered

Hi Pete, I am really enjoying your videos. I HIGHLY recommend that you get an OTC 6297 type ball joint separator if you think you are going to be doing a lot of suspension rebuilds. It's a lifesaver. Much less likely to do damage than the pickle forks. Best Regards

Yes looks like a pretty cool tool for the job. I'm pretty sure I can rent this and will be doing other side soon. Thanks for the info

The upper control arms on that 500 I'm taking apart has new ones on it..I'm definitely gonna take them off & hold on to them

Oh good idea. These are not cheap parts. Especially if it's a top brand. Lower control arms are super expensive too

Hey, i am one of your german subscribers and i can tell you, that we don‘t know „Karlyn“ here in Germany. 😂 better you use parts from lemförder, meyle, trw, vaico, febi bilstein.. Greets from Berlin
@petescarport
@petescarport 4 года назад
Wow thanks for the input. So my goalwas to order one of those but a lot of sites are showing back order on parts and I'm guessing production is haulted. I've had pretty good luck with the two Katlyn parts I ordered. They seem to be out together well. But febi Bilstein is always go to on parts I can get. Stay safe my friend

So have you figured out the problem? I own 2 w140 and they both have the same issue... right wheel wobbles around 55mph.. goes away if i drive over 60mph or if i stay under 55mph.. help!!!
@petescarport
@petescarport 4 года назад
Wow that is exact problem I still have. I have not completely figured out the issue but I am going to continue replacing parts very soon. It is driving me nuts since I started to daily drive her again. Look for videos soon on this

@unkle fester I ended up getting rid of 99% of the vibration but adjusting my tire pressure. I know sounds crazy but I played around with it and found a sweet spot

Have that same problem on mine. Ever figure it out?

@@petescarport have you tried adjusting front wheel bearing to see if it helps the vibration. I have the same problem and about to replace upper arms. I’ve adjusted bearings and already replaced lower arms and it helped but still have vibration. I hope upper arms will take care of it.

I noticed you deleted the previous video of the same subject, why? Looking forward to more!

Yo Winston good catch. So at the end I accidentally showed the pitch on the control arm the wrong way. I was going back and forth with my notes and when I did the torque live I had the control arm too low. I edited only the end to fix it. Thanks for watching

I’m looking to wrap my 79C10 In this color. I hear this color scratches very easy and gives kinda a wavy distorted image. Would you say that’s accurate? Car looks bad ass bro.
@petescarport
@petescarport 4 года назад
Unfortunately I have to say yes to both. I'm very very careful with it and have scratched it a few times through the film and you can see light scratches up close. Also it does look distorted in spots, but when clean it looks perfect from almost all angles.

Have you tired adjusting front wheel bearing?
@petescarport
@petescarport 2 года назад
I did a while back. I have a feeling my wheel bearing is bad but also now believe the vibration is coming from a bad driveshaft support bushing/bearing. This makes sense since the driveshaft will cause a resonating vibration like I have. I plan to do all the driveshaft stiff

@@ncautolink let me know how it goes. There’s a lot of things that can cause vibrations. Sometimes it’s simple and sometimes it’s more than one or something difficult like driveshaft bushings.

@@petescarport I’ve changed drive shaft bushing couple years ago when we changed transmission. It went out for some reason at 120k miles

What the mileage on this 140? And make sure that you have good wheel balance
@petescarport
@petescarport 4 года назад
Yes you are right about wheel balance. That is usually the main culprit. But I have had same vibration since I purchased at 114k and now have 124k. That's over 3 years of driving and 4 sets of tires. Plan is to keep changing out all suspension one at a time and document. Each piece I change it gets a little better.

@@petescarport I have two 140 and both of them have vibrations, on one after balance became better, but still some vibrations
