That was good trolling from the rockets. But this intro will top every today's rockets intro. Best rockets intro ever. Miss that intro, really raw hype.
The Rockets used to mock the visiting team all the time back then with the song accompanying the starting lineup. The best was the Sixers who were awful that season(24-58). The song they used was "Streets of Philadelphia" by Bruce Springsteen.
It's true, back then the people in the Summit would fuck with the opposing team during the starting lineups by using the most ridiculous songs in this case "It's a Small world" For the Orlando Magic.
Funny thing about Houston's "liftoff" and space countdown is that Orlando is the other Space City with the Kennedy Space Center being right next door at Cocoa Beach and UCF originally founded as a training school for those that were going to work in the space program. UCF vs. Houston football is considered the "space game" where they were space themed uniforms, and when they were running out of 407 area code phone numbers Orlando went with 321 as their next area code as a nod to counting down for rocket launches.
They used a song by Capella for their intro. Even though they don't use 'You Gotta Know' any more for intros, Houston DOES have a player named Capela, so that's pretty sweet!
PA Announcer: Orlando Magic, you guys lost to the Rockets in the 95 finals. Whatcha y’all gonna do next? Magic: Were going back to Disney World!!! 😂 But overall that was a great matchup between Hakeem and Shaq!!! I miss those days!!! ❤
Nah let's. They left the Summit due to the fact it wasn't theirs. It was actually owned by the Aeros' owner and they had beef with Van Chancellor. It even cost us a NHL expansion. That went to Nashville.
What an epic troll of the Magic. Though I'm sure the Walt Disney Company appreciated the very large royalty check it cost the Rockets for having that played over national TV
