This was the smallest margin of victory for the Packers in 1996. They only had one other win that was by single digits (13-7 TB). Green Bay won 8 games by at least 21 points, 4 of which were by at least 31. The ‘96 Packers are still the only team to have the number one scoring offense and defense since 1969, which was basically a million years ago in a different world. Including the postseason, Desmond Howard returned 4 punts and 1 kickoff for touchdowns. Green Bay held 5 opponents without a touchdown and gave up just 1 touchdown to 5 others. They surrendered only 19 touchdowns during the regular season. They won their final 8 games by an average of more than 21 points as they finished the deal by beating New England in Super Bowl 31.
Everyone says how if the Cowboys had made it to play the Packers in 96 they would have been beat. Maybe. But people forget that the Boys beat both these teams in 96 including the 49ers at Candlestick. The Packers hammered the Cowboys in 97 but that was a Cowboys outfit that had already taken a major drop down in performance. The 96 Cowboys, a hit and miss bunch, might still have landed a hit on the Packers if they'd made it past the Panthers.
Now way the cowboys would have beat them at lambeau, especially in January. The Packers were unbeatable at home at the time. They won 25 home games in a row from 95-98.
There’s no way they would’ve beat them at lambeau with how cold it was. Aikman played terrible in cold weather and by that time the packers got all their players back from injury except Robert brooks and added Andre rison and also the running game was finally established. The packers would’ve beat them and a lot of packers fans wanted that and to see it. The defense was unstoppable
