Never start with the drain bolt. Because what if u drain it anf then cant get the fill bolt out to refill. Just some advice.
@balloney2175
@balloney2175 4 года назад
You are right. I started with the drain bolt, drain the old fluid (after 270,000 miles!!!) had really hard time getting the filler bolt out. But, fortunately, I saw that trick from someone using a steel manual scissor jack. Whew!!!

ATG suggests to do the following: A. Make sure car is at ground level (parallel) B. Then drive front up to ramps. If you got no ramp, drive half to curb so you get under to remove bolts C. Have something to catch the transmission fluid. Wear gloves & protective eyewear for eyes D. Have six points 17MM wrench or socket (under car, left side 17MM Bolt is on very tight) turn CCW. Fill Bolt E. DO NOT proceed if your can not take out the 17MM Bolt F. There should little Manual Transmission Fluid coming out of 17mm's Hole when removing Bolt G. Insert a 3/8" (3/8 inch Ratchet) into the 3/8" (Square Hole Like, at bottom 6 O'clock) turn CCW H. Fill Bolt (17mm Bolt) and 3/8" Drain Bolt should only be loosen for the moment I. Put car in "N", and push off ramp to ground level. Two people working are better, one in car & other push J. Turn Counter Clockwise (CCW) on the 3/8" fully to take out bolt, prepare for fluid pouring out. Cleans Bolt K. Take out the 17MM Bolt. Fluid will drain much faster now. Cleans Bolt L. Let it drip all out M. Take out Washer & flip 180 degrees and put back onto 3/8". Tighten 3/8" down with Washer N. Two bottles of Honda Manual Transmission Fluid # 08798-9031 O. Open one bottle. Now drill a hole onto the cap. Get a Clear Rubber Flexible Hose (smaller than the fill hole) Place Hose into hole of Cap. Insert hose to 12mm & seal it with Silicone (on the outside) Put back Cap onto bottle You now just made an ATG's world best funnel P. Insert the ATG's into the Fill Hole and squeeze the bottle Q. You should have no problem using all from the 1st bottle. Pop a hole on bottle to empty faster R. Remove Cap from #2 and placed ATG's onto #2 S. Squeeze and repeat until you see Manual Transmission Fluid spilling out of 17MM Fill Port T. Remove ATG's and clean. Install back the 17MM Bolt Start car but to not run car. In Park, Shift into all Gears within 1.11 minute apart. Now, pat yourself on the back that ATG and I have helped you. Leave your email here if you needs more tips /or suggestions.

Thanks for this video. I bought my 96 Civic Ex last year with 126k and it now has 140k. I would say the last 6 months I've been hear a friction sound in the lower gears (1,2,3) and now in 4th. The thing is it seems to go away when I push it to the higher RPMs, like above 3500. My mechanic doesn't service transmissions but change the fluid saying that it had gear oil in it instead of Honda MT fluid, which he replaced it with. Now first is a little more Smooth but the problem did not go away. He said maybe change the fluid again to see it it helps but it might be a servo? Any thoughts?
