Only 4400 rpm at 130mph, this car would probably reach 145-150 if not for the PCM controlled fuel cut-off. Surprisingly very smooth and stable at speed.
My recently acquired 95 Deville, one owner car with the 4.9L not the Northstar shuts down at 114mph. In drive it shifts at 42 in 1st, 82 in 2nd, and still in 3rd at 114 when it shuts it down. I'm sure if bypassed it would pull low 120's at least until it hit overdrive. Although not as much top end rpm or hp as the Northstar. They are surprisingly quick from 0-40 in the green light drag races,,if you can keep it from smoking the tires..even with TC turned on it still turns them for a few feet. Very fun car to drive, and now I gotta get me one with the Northstar engine. Its my spare car as my full size truck eats fuel...big V8 Ford. Plus the kids use it, but now dad wants one of his own....oh yeah it does an awesome rolling burnout to I found out...No E brake locking needed,,,impressive!
I would have to agree...I have only taken my 1996 Deville up to 115, but at high speeds it is a very smooth and stable car. Thanks for posting this! I have always wondered what my car would do when the PCM cut the fuel off.
I've never had my 1999 Deville 4.6 32V Northstar over 75 mph. I always wondered if the digital mph was double digits or triple. I believe that you answered my curiosity. Being a 1 owner and 70.000 miles I baby the cream puff. Thanks for the video.
I regrettably sold the (1996) car about 4 or 5 years ago. I was fortunate to find a one owner 1999 Deville Concour with only 59,xxx miles about 9 months ago. Ill keep it for ever. Thanks
@@stick85251 I like that model. It has the bucket seat's with center consul and the rear fold down vanity mirror's. The bucket seat's give it sporty look of 2 door coupe.
Your RPMs jumped up out of overdrive and back into third, there is a program in the dash on board computer system to adjust check and mess with all kinds of stuff on the engine and transmission
My 90 DeVille topped out at 115mph if I'm correct My 05 sts Northstar rear wheel drive topped out at 142 but could do more if fuel wasn't cut off Now my 91 DeVille with 105k is being worked on it needs a lot of repairs
My 2005 GXP bonneville would kick out at the same speed,I know that car would do at least 150 if it had the limiter turned off.Yes it was the ld8 with 3:71 final drive.
I've only had mine to 140kph, that's around 87mph. I'll have to give her a little more to see what it cuts at. Mathematically I should hit around 205kph.
i got a 1996 cadillac concours with less then 56k miles originals and after i go 80 the car begins to vibrate but other the that the car is smooth until it gets to 80mph any help??
there is a race mode on the transmission obcthe check transmission light comes on and you have to turn it off and remove the key three times to get it to set back to normal soft shift ,70@2400 and154@about 5500on mine after reading about the head bolt issue I want to get the upgrade kit and it needs new struts
I had a 96 fleetwood that I regret selling a few years ago. I paid a company $250 and they let me borrow a obd2 programmer which I had to return afterwards. I wanted the speed governor removed. Top speed was 133. Not sure if there's an obd1 programmer.
