What a legendary product. You don't see ads for it anymore, sadly, but you'll still find one at your local shop. For good reason, too. Foreman did a really good job selling it, he seems so modest and stable and he seems to truly love the product. My favorite bit is when he says "it will teach your kids to eat healthier", from them seeing the fat being drained. So wholesome, and for a product that so many people love to use. 10/10
I was a freshman in college in 1996 and everyone had one of these, although technically we weren't supposed to at my school. They were small and never get hot enough to really char food and cause a lot of smoke, so they were perfect stealth cookers.
My mum never bothered with these grill for many years as I was growing up, thinking that it was just another fad gadget. I got my own place a couple of years ago, and treated myself to one. It is probably the most used cooking appliance I own. Got her one for her birthday last year, and her opinion has changed completely.
When I think back to the summers of 1996 and 1997, I realize how much time I spent watching infomercials. This one, Juiceman, Food Dehydrator, T-Fal Nonstick Cookware, Sobakawa pillow, Sweet Simplicity... We had HBO and Showtime, too... What the crap was wrong with me?
New Wave Beach Guy I don’t know about how popular it would have been in the 80s with hulk, just since while he was mega famous, he was mega famous with children, and this was an adult product, so I think a lot of adults might have found him too goofy to buy a product with his face on it
Paid programming back in the days call 1-800 cash or money order+shipping and handling Credit card or money order Ahhhhh I miss those days things in the 90s that were hi tech that you had to send out and order it now you can get anything from anywhere
@@sidmichael1158 Foreman (2017), but I haven’t seen it so I’m not sure wether it focuses on his boxing or the grill. Either way it’s about a lot of his life.
I love the part when he is sitting with his kids at 6:12 . He was misrepresented in the 70s as a brutal and cruel man but after seeing this video one can find that he is so loving and caring person.
Foreman also converted to Christianity since the 70s. Which has had a profound effect upon his way of life, attitudes and behavior he has said this his self
This is the first infomercial I watched my entire life. I believe it was PTV Channel 4 here in the Philippines which aired this. I was wondering wtf it was but I knew I want one of em.
Bought a new one at a campsite auction. Best 5 bucks I ever spent. I ended up saving all the rendered fat though to flavor meatballs and make my own hamburgers.
"Hey George, How Does Your Grill Work?" George Foreman:"It KNOCKS OUT the FAT." "What Does that Mean?" George Foreman:"it KNOCKS OUT the FAT." "So, What You're Saying is..." George Foreman:"it KNOCKS OUT the FAT." "So, it...." George Foreman:"it KNOCKS OUT the FAT." "Can you say anything else?" George Foreman:"It KNOCKS OUT Your FACE....." "Say What?"(Gets KNOCK-OUT) George Foreman:"My Fist that is. Now Buy My Grill." "Yes Mr. Foreman, I'll Buy Your Grill. " George Foreman:"You Buy 5 of Them." "5? OK, Do You Take Credit Cards?" George Foreman:"No, Fool, Cash Only."
Amos De Hoyos it's great!! Easy to clean! I've cooked bacon, beef patties, grilled chicken and grilled cheese. I love not having to get my cooktop dirty!
I had a roommate who owned one of these. He never, NEVER cleaned out the drip pan that had all the grease in it. It congealed and looked something like a gelatin mix of old milk and gasoline. It was gross. Be sure you clean that fat out!
I always thought the grill dried out whatever meat you cooked on it, I guess it’s a good bachelor cooking appliance. Also, I always found it weird that Foreman was a beast in human form as a boxer in the 70’s. Now he’s a big teddy bear hawking these cheap grills…
'Hello from Europe here! I remember that lady in the commercial - she promoted a mop with yellow cotton you could rinse in a bucket of water and then turn the handle of the mop and the water came out! I loved that thing! In the commercial she said the mop thought it was a vacuum cleaner haha.
The George Foreman's Lean Mean Fat Reducing Grilling Machine was one of the infomercials that i witness on Philippine TV. The Batang 90's would remember this informercial
Maxime Desmarais I agree. That's the American dream. But he also made money in the ring, but once retired, he invented this little gadget and kept the money coming in. Like I said, genius.
The biggest competitor to New George Foreman grill sales? Used George foremen grills. A small kitchen appliance, pushed by a celebrity, as seen on TV, built to last. Rare combination
Yeah people in the 90s were health concerned freaks. Now in the 2010s the opinions are more countered, hipster and more concerned with eating exotic whole foods and "superfoods". I love how times change.
I was reminded of this because of the recent popularity of air fryers. I'm not saying they're too similar to each other, but there's definitely parallels between them, including their popularity with young people.
Who is here after wacthing big george foreman movie poor guy he was really struggling he was not happey while being in the commercial trying to make extra money 4 his youthgym just watch it n u will knw e Wat im talking about
I think George Foreman did it 90% effectively reduce eliminates GMO problems by creating a grill that’s built frying top and bottom to let the fat decrease faster in every way. Do you think I make a great point.
6:13 All his sons are named after him (George Jr. to George V) and he has a daughter. I bet her name is Georgina. He can tell his sons apart by cooking their favorite food.
