Kick back and enjoy the highlights from the 1996 NFC Championship game when the Panthers came to Lambeau to take on Brett Favre and the Green Bay Packers.
I was at this Game it was very chilly , I was so pumped I didn't care we were going to the super bowl. First time in 30 years, I remember this game like yesterday. I got a piece of the torn up turf the growns crew through to my brother and I like an hour or so after the game was over. I still have it in a jar. I kept it growing for like a year then it died on me. Still have the dirt though. !!
I remember this like it was yesterday. It was an absolutely frigid day here in Wisconsin. Great day to be a Packers fan. I actually own a piece of the field on which this game was played. The week before, the field got torn up and was resodded for this game. They sold the sod from the Divisional round and gave the money to charity. They did the same thing again after the NFC Championship game. My piece had grass and cleat marks on it when I got it. It's now nothing more than a chunk of dirt, but I'll never part with it. To me, it's history. Hoping for big things this year! Go Pack Go!
@ 2:22 if you think about it CB Eric Davis outside of the 94 season the 49ers winning the SB he had some rough moments in the playoffs. As CB you not suppose to let a RB out jump you for the ball
I had this Football Game on Videotape that my mom had recorded back on the day that the Green Bay Packers had won over the Carolina Panthers to go Super Bowl 31 in New Orleans AKA The Big Easy and that sadly I didn’t ever get a chance to watch it although sadly all I remember is that as soon as I came back home to where I was living in my childhood home town of King City ca down in the very heart of the Salinas Valley and home region of John Steinbeck I was standing in my Living Room and behind the Couch and Listening to my Mom then saying that Green Bay’s going to the Super Bowl as I then had noticed Brett Favre on Television during some post game Special or Speech of some sort and while although sadly I was once a Die Hard Devout Dallas Cowboys can Back then in those days during the 1996 Season and it’s iconic NFC Playoffs I eventually came to enjoy the Green Bay Packers Enthusiasm And Strong Willed Witts that had led them all the way to Final Victory on that very Night Of Super Bowl Sunday 1997 ! 😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈 Long Live You All Of You 1996 Green Bay Packers !
As a 10 year old fan during this game, I was extraordinarily proud of both the Panthers and Jaguars for reaching their respective title games in their second years of existence. I knew it was highly unlikely to happen (and sure enough) but I remember thinking how awesome it would have been to have a Jacksonville-Carolina Super Bowl.
When the panthers had the right angles tackles were made but it is evident there was little room for error with this packers squad. Even with a lead momentum was on the packers side throughout the game.
The Panthers were extremely aggressive, and GB took advantage of it, sucking them up field going hell for leather after Favre and dumping it off underneath for big gains.
The GREEN Bay Packers, who were wearing GREEN, had a player with the last name WHITE (Reggie, of course). The Panthers, who were wearing WHITE, had a player with the last name of GREEN(E) (first name Kevin). After Reggie White helped bring the Lombardi Trophy back to GB, he would come out of retirement to play one season for the Panthers (he then passed away 4 years later in NC); meanwhile Kevin Greene would go on to become a LB coach for GB and help the team win its 4th SB trophy.
