It was such a good feeling back then. For the Packers and football as a whole. It just felt great to watch, didn't it? Brett was such a fun QB to watch. And I forgot how powerful Dorsey "the horse" Levens was. Man, he loved getting dirty. A true mud runner. Thanks for the memories.
The 49ers played a pathetic schedule that year. 11-0 against losing teams, 3-4 against everyone else and they looked terrible in all those losses. They were about as fraudulent as you can be this deep in the playoffs.
True. The 90s Packers were a better team than the 49ers were. I think a ton of people forget how dominate they were on both side of the ball. Not to mention, special teams.
@@PackManSports They were better coached. Holmgren put wrinkles into Walsh's playbook while Seifert never changed. & while Mooch changed things up & made it a run 1st offense both Young & Rice were near the end by then.
I was in my twenties during the 90s. I was mad and angry after the playoffs. Except '94, to this day I hate and despise the Cowboys and Packers. If not for them we coulda won maybe 5 more SBs.
97 49ers were such a great team sad a John Elway Vs Steve Young Superbowl XXXII never happened yet who knows cause the 49ers beat Denver on Monday Night Football 34-17 and Denver was finding retribution in the Playoffs beating the Chiefs and Steelers teams that beat Denver in the regular season so who knows what could of happened
Chris Santiago: Yeah, I wish we would have seen that match-up, Chris. Steve Young vs John Elway in the SB would have been fantastic!! Also, Steve Young would have been going up against his old Offensive Coordinator - Mike Shanahan. Shanahan was Young's OC from 1992-94 before leaving to take over the Broncos HC position. You know, had Jerry Rice not been sidelined, perhaps the 49ers would have beaten the Packers in the NFCCG. Maybe not though. Between 1995-97, GB really had San Fran's number - with, or without Rice.
I keep reading SF could beat Dallas but when you are 1-3 in title games says otherwise. The one win you got Deion does not get called for PI when Dallas mounts the comeback. Plus people forget SF did not have the money to get Deion that year that's why they got investigated and Debartolo along with policy was ousted out. That does not mean you were not a good team but you could not be Dallas or GB..

@@unnanointedonesufi : Exactly! Had it not been for the Cowboys, and Packers, Steve Young would have led the 49ers to multiple Super Bowl wins as their starting QB. At least I think so. I don't think one can fault Young. In 1992-93, Dallas were the better team. Ditto with GB between 1995-97. I often say that LeBron James would already have six rings were it not for the SA Spurs, and GSW.
@@briancusack4386 Agreed; 92-94 Cowboys were among the best teams in NFL history. From 96-98 key players are either too old or injured to finish the job. I consider 95 the one season that possibly got away, maybe 1992 as well but Montana wasn't surviving that Dallas pass rush, period. If anything, SY kept the 49ers relevant in the late 90"s. People say he is overrated: he is probably underrated.
@@TheWakeup011 : Well said. I agree with you completely. I also agree with you that 95 is/was the year that got away. As a Dallas fan, I was ecstatic when GB knocked SF out of the playoffs. Even though the Cowboys had home-field advantage (thanks to the 49ers losing to Atlanta on the final weekend), I was scared of the 49ers. How could I not be? They owned Dallas at the time, having beaten them three consecutive times (including that season - November 12th, 1995). Had the 49ers met up with my Cowboys in the NFCCG, I think SF may have prevailed again. Between 1994-97, SF owned Dallas; Dallas owned GB; and GB owned SF.

In the last 30 years there've been more than several teams who made the playoffs as a wildcard and won the Super Bowl. The Packers, Giants, Oakland Raiders, Ravens, Steelers and Patriots and Broncos.
