@@reefonbux9432 I’m really starting to feel old, I vividly remember being a teenager at the time, my family all gathering at my grandparents house, my uncle ordering like 20 Domino’s pizzas and all of us sitting down to watch this game. Even though Philly lost, I surely thought Ty Detmer was gonna be the next great quarterback for the Eagles. Clearly I missed the mark on that one. A few years later he threw seven interceptions in one game… SEVEN! Aaron Rodgers hasn’t even thrown that many in an entire season since 2016.
The 49ers of the 90s were equal in talent to the 80s teams that they had. In reality, the 90s 49ers were pretty overrated, simply because they stagnated from the 80s, as the Dallas Cowboys and Green Bay Packers regularly beat them in the playoffs. The 3 "biggest teams" for the NFL in the 90s were the Cowboys, Broncos, and Packers. 49ers were 4th.
Despite being a Steelers fan, Steve Young was my favorite quarterback to watch during this era and plays like 36:17 are the reason why. Young was a winner, he could pass and put up excellent stats with the best of them but he also played as fearless as any QB there’s ever been. He had no problem with taking a hit, especially if it meant he could run it in for a touchdown. Truly underrated even to this day, many people still don’t give him the credit he deserves.
After this game, it wasn't until Donvann McNabb and Andy Reid came along that the Eagles went back to their former glory just only got to one Super Bowl togehter.
1:43:44 Jacksonville would go on to utterly shock the Broncos with an upset win. This is the season before the Broncos first won the Super Bowl. Both the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Carolina Panthers would pull off stunning wins in the Divisional round. What's even more unusual is that both the Jaguars and the Panthers were only in their second year of play.
Bizarre camera angles on this one. I watched every 49ers home game at Candlestick from 1987-2013 and this is the first time I have seen a game shot this way
1996 is the year the 49ers and Eagles debuted their new logos and uniforms, replacing San Francisco's 1964-1995 uniforms and Philadelphia's 1985-1995 uniforms.
I miss these 9ers jerseys we went backwards and I don't like it these had a modern feel to them the jerseys now almost look pink at times on tv and what's with the gray facemasks no part of the Jersey has gray on it I loved the red facemasks along with everything else about these jerseys
I could be wrong but I think because of the layout of Candlestick Park, that was the best place for the TV network to position the camera. Pretty much every game I’ve ever watched that happened at Candlestick Park, the camera was always placed at an unusually high angle.
