I have a 2000 lx non v-tec as well , and what amazes me about this car is how fast this car brakes having in mind that has no rear disk brakes ,your model only came like about 1k of these models here to brazil imported by the U.S here at the time they only had two models the 4door ex and lx the difference was the ex had auto transition and leather seats , abs and the non iron wheels . the problems that i have to say are for brazil with terrible roads my car is not lower but still hits the ground all the time because of our roads and streets , and the other problem is brazilian only put water on the radiator and when a car like this gets to your hand there is rust everywhere in the cooling system , but these things aren't the cars fault but the not so nice about is the diesel sound looking when you hear it when you use it as stock . awesome video .

Got a 5 door fastback as my first car, I'll never regret that decision. Only negative for the fastback is that the aftermarket parts are a bit rare, but hey, it could be worse. I mean, it's only a SOHC 1.4l but I'd rather drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow. And when you hit the >7k rev limiter, all your sorows will wash away. :D

Loved mine! I bought on with 290,000 miles for $700 when I turned 16. I put under glow lights on her, a star light headliner, heated seats, ect. It lasted me till I was 20, and it would have lasted longer if it wasn’t stolen at one point. I got her back, and I was so happy. I was driving it from Colorado to Arizona, and one day my radiator went out in the middle of no where will it was 112* F. I waited for one of my buddies to tow me, but at that point my head gasket was blown. I went about 6 months without a car in college, and finally found a 05 Civic that is also a 5 speed, and it only had 80,000 miles on it. I’ve done the same mods to it and have taken good care of her, but I miss my 98. I’m considering selling my 2005 which is in great condition for a project 5th Gen hatchback or coupe. But it is a very reliable first car, I loved it so much that I want to step back into one.

Im going to look at one this afternoon. A 1998 Si. Wish me luck. The EX trim (Canadian Si trim) had the SOHC 16v D16Y8 engine with VTEC. It produced 127 hp (95 kW) at 6,600 RPM.

No the transmission made grinding sounds, mostly in 3rd gear. I opted for a 1995 integra.

@@HAWKONER I want to get rid of it because it's a very needy complicated car for a 19 year old in college like my self.. it's been fix after fix since I got it..up next is leaky valves and you know how expensive that can get. And it sucks that a car I've put so much time and money into is now only worth the most 2 grand bc of the leaky valves.

Teen Ricer yeah I love the vtec crossover on the b16 head, nice time to start working on that lsv I've seen quite a few who ran strong. I miss building b series motors they were so easy and cheap to build. My k20 is breaking the bank lol

My friend has one that he bought brand new. Twenty-one years later, and it runs great. Only 134,000 miles on it. The only issue it's having right now is that it stalls at traffic lights sometimes. It's an automatic. Any ideas why it stalls at lights and stop signs?

Maybe he should change the transmission fluid, I got a manual and the idle is a bit low, too. I guess it's just the way they were made? But if he never changed the trans fluid before, that might be the problem.

Adan Lopez i love both, I own a 98 maxima and my civic, my maxima is more smooth and way faster and the motors are bulletproof on them! I would love to own a 03 maxima, the civic is a good gas saver, easy to work on and can be made fast if wanted to! I love both it's hard all depends on wat you want bro, maxima if you want a cool sport sedan or a cool daily

chez cake if you can afford an Si then I would recommend one. I picked mine up for a grand a few weeks ago and love it. I went from an Audi A4 B6 body to it and I have no regrets

I'm 16 & I just bought a 98 civic but its got issues. Engine light is always on, it shuts off randomly, the key gets stuck in the ignition, etc. I wanna learn how to work on my car but I dunno where to start.

The EX has a d16y8 127 hp unless it’s a DX with 106 hp you probably have the DX with upgraded goodies

No it's a ex, yes they come with y8s but mine had a blown motor and I put a y7 in mine, but mine has full exhaust, bigger injectors, better intake man, short ram intake and a p28 ecu

Actually your wrong. EX from 1996-2000 had a SOHC VTEC engine. And it’s a D16Y8. VTEC switchover is around 5,600 rpms but you barely feel the switch over compared to a DOHC with dual cams. VTEC solenoid is located on the back left side of the engine I think by the air intake

TBH l have always hated these cars. They were very very annoying, the ppl were annoying, however my mother lost her new car due to a job layof. This being said she ended up buying a lil 2000 civic LX. I did the brakes in it and drove it to check them. Long story short i loved it and now i have one. Aint that some shit?

D16y7 is 106 horse at the flywheel with the p28. Consider a 20% drivetrain loss you're taking 75-80Hp when it was brand new. After 20 years and many miles your prob pushing 65/70 horse. Legit.

Jeremy Fowler I mean I was ready a lot of forums and like they said with with the y8 trans, y8 intake manifold and the y8 manifold it should make right over 130, or a lil more and it would bump it up more if I swapped the head, I have all that, I'm super sure it does not make 65-80 cuz it's just as fast as Maky's with the y8 ecu, and makes car was worked on and the guy who had it said it had a good 140 horses "Maky's car" so I'm positive it's not that low bro trust me, it's a whole other car with the other Ecu, I want to make it look like a si lol with the b18 bottom and with the b16 head

Teen Ricer lol nope. Sorry been building these cars for almost 20 years. Since 1999. Tranny adds nothing for HP. stock manifold n intake maybe adds 5-8hp. And that car had 106 stock flywheel. Which is like 80 dyno. So maybe add ur 5-8 ur talking 85/88hp and like I said that was 19 years ago and 150k miles ago. They lose HP with age.

Jeremy Fowler yea it's a fun car, but I still don't think it makes that low of horse power especially keeping up with cars that make well over 140 I mean idk tho, but definitely a fun car and the only way to see wat it makes is to dyno, I'm gonna try to find one near me lol
