Tried making me schedule a 4th time. They finally decided to back out let me take the TV home and hire my own install guy who could show up when we agreed.

@@masternobody1896 I agree, no Car is perfect but, Toyota has better service and longer warranty than Honda. Toyota offers 5yrs warranty full coverage (vs Honda's 3yrs) and can be extended up to 10 years. Toyota is twice the size of Honda globally and can make cars cheaper than Honda due to the size advantage and therefore offer better interior and finish at the similar competitive price.

It's good. I also drove a Bimmer 5 speed. Every 100k km you have to change the clutch plates but that's trivial compared to swapping out an automatic transmission. Something like less than 15% of people know how to drive a manual however, so resale value is impacted.

Honda absolutely sells to rental and fleet. I’ve worked for Honda for 25 years, and it was the Taurus that made that claim. (Because FORD counted every sedan retailed and wholesaled.) It’s really not close, Toyota offers as many trucks as Honda does cars. It’s not even apples and oranges, Toyota has smoked the midsize sedan market until Hyundai got their act together.

I’d take a Civic over a Corolla too. But Your stats on where Toyota’s are built are just wrong dude. The most American car on the road, via PARTS and ASSEMBLY is the Toyota Camry. And it has been for a longtime. And let your interference motor break a timing chain and say bye bye to your valves and rods. The Yota you just replace the timing belt/water pump and belt tensioner and your done. Bout $200 in parts. Not sure where your getting your facts

Thank you Scotty. A very informative video. You have confirmed my view of the excellence of Honda engineering. I live in Australia in the Blue Mountains to the west of Sydney. I bought a 2002 Honda V6L in 2007 with 22,000 klms on the clock. It has now done 228,000 klms and has given reliable, trouble free motoring over the last 15 years with many trips to Brisbane and Melbourne. It still drives like new. Every time Scotty mentions the crappy Chrysler, it hurts: I have a 2012 Chrysler 200S hardtop convertible. It's been fun to drive, but maintenance is killing me; I've had to replace the battery, alternator, main computer, and now it looks like I'll have to do the front end, the bushings in the front control arms are shot & one of my engine mounts is broken. Latest quote is $1800 to get that done. I wish I still had my 1952 VW bug, that engine I could take apart & put back together blindfolded, and the suspension & 4 speed manual were fantastic. It had good A/C too: the floor panels were all rusted out & I got plenty of ventilation! That car cost me $140 in 1971, yes that's all, and I drove it over 7500 miles criscrossing the USA; one tire blowout & one wheel bearing was all that went wrong. I need a time machine, sigh. I liked the world better back then too!

The 2.0 K20 NA motor definitely is not fast, but it’s a bulletproof reliable engine that’s actually quite eager to rev to high rpm’s, and suprisingly fun to drive when paired to a manual transmission. I’ve driven the 2.0 with the CVT and it was HORRIBLE, a completely different driving experience.

While I'm not sure about their newer vehicles, pre-1999 Honda drivetrain reliability is off-the-charts incredible. I bought a used 1993 Civic DX in 1995 for $7000. It had 8,000 miles on it. I proceeded to drive it for 27 years before finally giving it away to an acquaintance going through financially hard times this year, who's spouse is going suffering from a terminal disease. In all of that time, I spent roughly $4,000 in repairs/maintenance on it, doing most of them myself. While the rust on the vehicle is significant (thank you, northern winters/salt) it still runs beautifully (or at least still did, when I last saw it two weeks ago), and was averaging 38 mpg as recently as last year when I stopped keeping track of the mileage via Fuelly.

I agree a manual transmission is way more reliable. I personally prefer a stick shift in smaller cars like the civic….I grew up driving them and feel more in control as well. I’m in the process of looking for my teen daughters first car and I’m highly suggesting a manual transmission. I feel one should learn to drive on a manual transmission……it makes you pay more attention while driving too!

Until I started watching Scotty I’d never owned a Toyota (had a ‘93 Accord and a 2014 CRV….both superb cars). But now I have two Toyotas, one a wonderful old 2007 Scion tC with 195,000 miles on it, that is a little rocket, and the other is a 2022 Corolla Cross that is just magnificent, but underpowered and with a somewhat clunky CVT transmission. I would never buy a car with GDI fuel injection and since the Corolla cross has both GDI and MPI, no intake valve problems are anticipated. I’ve always loved GM cars, hated Chryslers, and tolerated Fords, but now would never own anything in the future but a Toyota or a Honda……simply the best cars made. Dr. K.

When I was considering buying a new hybrid instead of rebuilding the engine on my 99 Mustang six, I test drove the Honda Accord Hybrid, and the Ford Fusion Hybrid - both were impressive. On driving, I would have gone with the Ford Fusion, but it was close race. On either I would pull off the "low rolling resistance" tires that were supposed to be top of the line for that class, as they sucked. And I am a conservative driver! I decided to rebuild my engine, as I love my Mustang six, and the price of insurance, sky high registration in California, etc -

Scotty is preaching to the choir. In 2019 I sold my 2016 F-150 5.0 and bought a 2016 Civic LX with 19k miles for $12k cash. I put an upgraded Pioneer Apple Carplay head unit in and upgraded the wheels. I love the 2.0 naturally aspirated motor. I drive 90% highway miles and just turned 97,000. I change the oil every 10k with full synthetic oil. No problems at all. At 80k I drained and filled the CVT fluid and coolant. At 90k I replaced the plugs, coils, PCV valve and pads and rotors. Still runs like day 1. The interior is still at 90%. I plan to run this thing to at least 500k then buy another year to two year old Civic.

I love Hondas. My first car was an 01 Accord EX, it wasn't the infamous 6th gen transmission issues that killed it, it was body shops being unable to find parts and hiking labor up so much my insurance totaled it after a bad winter. I might have kept it if I had a space of my own to repair as I had wanted to see it through to 200k miles, but alas, I'm a single professional in a city. But, my new car is a 2015 Honda Civic EX-L, so..... I'm enjoying the leather heated seats, Bluetooth connectivity, and kept my moonroof, without breaking the bank on costs. My only minor sadness is the trunk space was a downgrade from the Accord, but it'll just mean I'll have to fold the seats down for Costco runs. Cheers for the video!
