I may forget 1983 or 2011. But, I will never forget this Match. I was studying Xth Std that time.I could still remember Each and Every hour of that day when this match was happened. Sweet memories......
I was in 8th standard. We kids were watching this match at one neighbour's place. After Hrushikesh Kanitkar shot for boundry we all screamed like mad. What a lovely memories. ❤
There used to be several people like that, But I guess thats because many were actually pakistanis. We find fewer such people in subsequent generation. I knew a father son duo - father supported pakistan but son supported India
Saw this match with my grandfather, both were so tensed but he told me to stay calm. Never can I forget the moment when Srinath's shit landed inbetween 3 fielders. Just lost my grandfather a week ago. Miss you grandpa 😢😢
Unbelievable, I also watched the second half India’s batting with my grandfather on a black and white 14” Tv. This match always reminds me of him. I have been looking for this one for over 10 years.
Whole of 1990s, I was living in muslim locality in uttar pradesh and every shops of muslim's were celebrating Saeed Anwar and Inzamam shots and I was a kid was not able to understand why they are doing this..
Saeed anwar was a danger batsman for pak at that era of 90'... What a opener he was. With destructive afridi they always made a great start for pakistan in 15 over field restriction. Anwar was like today's virat..if he set once made scores very quickly afterwards; so his wicket was so crucial for every match for us & for rest of the world.
Me and my Brother were watching in Jan 18 1998 live and 47.3 Overs that Srinath shot high above all 3 fielders unable to catch was so funny .Hrishikesh Kanitkar was hero
I did not seen this match but listened this in radio... Ours was a remot village so. Radio was also not clear. A guy from our village was translating only Hindi commentary in our local kannada language. Unfortunately last over there was English commentary so that's the big problem for him to translate. He has taken 2 minute time to understand the English commentary that India won the match.... So so great memories... Loved those days listening radio commentary... now days kids don't feeling the same...
This was an unforgettable match- from Aaqib Javed's injury excuse to evade the hammering Tendulkar was giving everyone to the PAK team walking away to avoid the loss, this was destined to be in India's favour. If Tendulkar would have stuck around, the match would have been over even before the 40th over was bowled. And with stellar batting from the the classy Anwar and hurricane Ijaz in the first innings- this was one of those Gold Standard ODI matches.
I remember that. And how I hated Sayed Anwar for his brilliant batting. If I recall correctly, I think Azharuddin and Ganguly were batting and when the Pak team and the umpires walked off the field blaming the low light. Even Azharuddin walked off back to the pavilion and it was Ganguly alone on the pitch refusing to go back. We were swearing at him and praising Ganguly back then because we felt it was Ganguly alone who wanted the win. We were also swearing at Mongia when he was dot balling against Saqlain Mushtaq. It was good times and an unbelievable win. This was also the golden era of Indian pop music, WWE wrestling, NES games and MTV.
According to Prabhakar's Tehelka tapes, this match was fixed. But Ganguly, Tendulkar, Robin Singh played against all odds. And the hero of the match was Hrishikesh Kanitkar ❤
Azhar, Jadeja and Mongia were a burden on the team, used to play without any performance for so many years. Saba Karim was much more talented keeper than Mongia but never got much opportunities. Azhar was not only captain of team India but was captain of all bookies from India & Pakistan as well.
I was in the IX th standard and what a match it was but listening to the dooms day commentary after every fall of wicket brought back so many memories, india winning against Pakistan was rare those days and the fact that i have seen india getting dominated to India dominating everyone in world cricket right now gives me so much happiness.
8.2 overs.. Ind 71/1.. Sachin scored 41 runs off just 26 balls.. Waw..!! Simply waw..!! Then came an unsung hero, Who built a great partnership with dada, which laid the foundation for the chase.. He played a blistering innings n scored at a strike rate of almost run a ball.. That unsung hero is Robin Singh..
i was in 4th standard, still remember this game, my mamaji was asking me to go for movie 'judaai' in theatre and i preferred watching this. will remember this for lifetime.
I watched this match in raibag( belguam, karnataka) I was in 7 std sweet memories😊😊😊 still I m in same mood I know we won but i like to see it again and again and again❤❤❤❤
Bohat achi sy yaad hai yeh din acha laga tha yeh cup india jeeta first match india jeeti second Pakistan last yeh match asa laga tha Pakistan jeeti gee mai to tv ban kardi thi bhai bole india jeeti tv kholo
This game is pure nostalgia for me. All of 90s cricket for me is squeezed in this game. Anwar performing vs India, Sachin explosive batting, Indian batting collapse. Remember my dad screaming loud after the winning boundary. During the Ganguly Robin Singh partnership, there was power cut in my area (very common back in the day), for the next 10-15 mins people were screaming shouting and fortunately that day the power was restored and we could watch the match.
My friends, area uncles and family all enjoying india winning moments but unforunatley my dad got heart attack as he couldnt believe india won it ,next minute we where in hospital and mostly talking about indias victory and from then on we dont watch cricket with dad around ...and it was about to happen in 2002 natwest final and we sent our dad to bed to sleep so we can enjoy india win and wat shocked us was our dad was watching dadas celebration we where really worried 🤣😂😂
That time pakisthan over all was better team than India(Indian batting line up was really strong even that time) but this win really matters for us ,besides our Bengal tiger dada was awesome
I still remember the highest run chase in cricket history, even in the newspaper bold letters . Kanithkar final shot. Really still able to recall how we celebrated the moment. Priceless 🎉 I was 10th std. Watched black and white TV in neighbor house
Please bro, u should get some knowledge about cricket records...!! First record was made by SRILANKA in 1992 world cup vs. Zimbabwe...!! Batting first Zimbabwe made 312/13 & Srilanka won the match by batting 2nd...!!! Thanks...🇧🇩🇧🇩🇧🇩💝💝💝!!!
what a great match - both teams had won it .. Chasing 315 was almost impossible back in 1998. Saeed anwar & Ijaj were showing to the world once again that Indian bowling was just a cake walk for them. Saqlain's bowling was actually got Pakistan back in the game !! This Innings of GANGULY what made selectors think that he is a Captaincy Material. ROBIN SINGH is the original THREE DIMENSIONAL player India had - hats off to him. and that final blow from Kanitkar - I remembered for long time - MMMBop's was 1 of my fav song from 1997- you can hear in background after india won the match
India Defeated Pakistan in 1971 War and again Defeated Pakistan in Indipendence Cup. Congratulations to the Entire Indian Team. Sourav Ganguly made life miserable for the Pakistani Bowlers. All the Best Indian Team.
Bhale hi aap Jyada cricket Nahin Khel Paye lekin aapane Jitna yogdan Diya vah bahut bada hai aur ismein ko ek aitihasik match ke roop Mein Yad Kiya Jaega aur aapko bhi
@@spaceintruder4858 Yeah I do agree completely with you - "The Prince of Calcutta" as Sir Geoffrey Boycott would call him as the "God of the Offside" was indeed rather Proud and arrogant during his younger days and he was unapproachable like a Royal Bengal Tiger of the Sundarbans and he was not very friendly as we can see in the post match celebrations in this video itself.
@r66z6 he was not banned. He was dropped. He toured Australia in 1990 91 but could not make an impact in one match He played against Westindies. He was out for four runs suspectible against short deliveries.
@@Amit-yy9yi Not as much as these two in 1998 and 2018.Natwest also was a great victory quite an impossible one actually but somehow the reactions in these two are of a different level.
