1998 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP Coupe takeoff; Ram air intake, SLP headers, and really i dont know what else...its on 20"s and i just bought it as is.....I thought it governed out at 107 mph....oh well :3
Might not seem fast in today's era of performance but if you grew up in that era you can appreciate it still. I remember when 7ish seconds to 60 was considered fast but of course times have change.
The whole car is known for the transmission breaking down. I have a 98 GT, at the time, the GXP was only offered in sedan. My GT doesn't have the rear spoiler that they all came with. it looked like all the rest, until the pedal was punched! I'm working on it's rear end, with having to put money in the transmission, because my baby can run! She did 120 here in the Appalachian mountains once, and will AGAIN~
He did a 2nd gear start which is slower than just gunning it from first. I had a 1998 gtp that was doing 0-60 in around 6.5-7. This did it in 8+. They was rated for around 6.1 from factory.
I really want one of these with really low miles. Like I am talking 2000 or less. My family had a bunch of these growing up but they sorta became shitboxed out. Anyways man love the car.
I got a 98 grand prix gt. Thing was a beast before transmission went and i had to get it rebuilt. Use to top out at 118. Acceleration was quick. Hit the pedal and its gone. Now i barely top 105
Fix the coolant elbows on the intake and maybe intake and head gaskets then flush the coolant system because it looks like rust water. Badass cars I've had a 01 Pontiac Bonneville ssei and a 04 Pontiac grand prix GTP supercharged same coolant issue with both but I love those cars.
Probably a bad coolant level sensor, judging by how the light came on and off a few times. Extremely common issue on old GM cars that the sensor fails.
@@Jesus90mendoza please do it. I'd watch it. Matter of fact I'm subscribing to your channel now. Also I'm looking for another gtp a 2door 40th anniversary like the one I had
the road was wet from the rain...thats why it spun like that plus I had the traction control off.....I traded in that car for a 2005 Envoy Denali....I miss that car tho...I will upload my 0 to 60 of my Envoy Denali
Check out zzperformance and get a reprogrammed PCM from them. It will eliminate that and also do huge list of things to improve the car's performance. My '03 Grand Prix GT cuts out at 105-107 as well. Which is why I want to get the PCM as well as the other benefits. Here's the direct link. Good luck. zzperformance.com/3800/electronics/zzp-1-0-pcm.html
@@thelonewanderer9097 I'm going to he getting a pcm soon, after a trans upgrade of course, but I've heard of not the 3800 but the LQ1 on 95 grand prix SE upwards of 160, just gotta spend the money and time
But in 1998 that's the thing people forget.. not many cars out there where that fast for that cheap if you wanted to go faster you had to spend a lot more money
