On 3rd December 2022, precisely 1,300 miles and one month and a day after having it picked it up, I decided to do an Ownership Report on this 1998 Volvo C70 Coupé 2.3 T5 GT Automatic. Be prepared for oil leaks, cracked bumpers, lacquer peel, beige leather and alcantra trim with wood. Nothing untoward, then!

Such a stunning colour Mr. Lloyd, a good detail would make it really pop. Personally speaking, this is such a lovely and rare car, it would be beneficial for a bit of paint correction, it's Absolutely one car that needs preserving.
@lloydvehicleconsulting
@lloydvehicleconsulting Год назад
It's all my own money that I have to spend on it, I am afraid, sir, and at the moment it is going on things like the cambelt and getting rid of the oil leaks as opposed to any cosmetic improvements, given it only cost £1400 in the first place.
@paulie-Gualtieri.

Don't worry too much about the oil leaks Sir. Mr Coleman will be able to stop them in their tracks. Remember that the car is now 24 years old. Great to hear that she runs well. 29.8 mpg from a 2.5 5 cylinder Petrol Turbo is quite astounding. This car has another 24 years in it without any problem.

Sir, Mr Coleman will indeed be a very safe pair of hands with this. We are going to wait until the Rover is fixed before sending it up to him, though.

Nice enjoyable ownership report sir, looks like despite the oil leak you are really enjoying the Volvo.

I'm very sorry to hear you are having issues, most importantly the engine leaking oil. I'm positive Mr. Coleman will discover the source(s) and get it properly repaired without too much expense. One thing I continue to notice, and you pointed out on your initial review, the pop out rear windows, which is extremely rare on vehicles of this era, as most were fixed. An aftermarket rear view camera would help with the poor rear visibility, one thing that I am extremely grateful on more modern vehicles.
@lloydvehicleconsulting
@lloydvehicleconsulting Год назад
Yes, a reversing camera and/or parking sensors would be a good idea. Will look into this once Mr Coleman has fixed the oil leaks. Haven't actually used those rear windows since I got the car funnily enough....

Great update. If you could get it under cover for afew days, you could try leaving a heavy coat of wax polish, to soak in, on the affected Laquer, might improve it, but will hopefully stop it getting any worse. Very economical for a big auto, my MX5 auto does 33mpg on a run, very similar to the mx5 manual
@lloydvehicleconsulting
@lloydvehicleconsulting Год назад
Unfortunately, sir, it is not possible to put it under cover down here, unless I ask Mr Coleman to do it when it is up with him having the oil leaks fixed. It's not a massive issue, however, as that bumper isn't great.

It was after a 300 mile or so round trip last month, so it was a lot cleaner a few days before. The seats seem to be remarkably durable considering how old this car is with 112,000 miles on the clock.

Thanks. I was unaware that you had made this video earlier! Oil leaks? Very alarming! Regarding the paint wear, maybe it was parked out in the open under trees for too long? Some tree saps wreak havoc on car paint!
@lloydvehicleconsulting
@lloydvehicleconsulting Год назад
Yes, sir, made this in early December. The oil leaks are quite typical for a T5 Volvo, sadly. The paint is more likely to be something like a leaking battery put on the top of the car in a garage, I think, as the mileage over the last few years has been very low.

Sir, I must say that I am disappointed by the amount of dirt on the C70's exterior! That is not how a C70 should look! That's a shame about the oil leaks but Mr. Coleman is definitely an asset. If you see Mr. Hunter make sure you remind him about the broken glove-box on my 850 TDi! 😂 My 960 has peeling lacquer like yours, but mine's much much worse, think Mr. Richardson's Rover 420 GSi bad and you're not far off the mark...You still need to see the 960. Hopefully things start looking up with the car, I do hope your last 1300 miles have been very enjoyable and brisk! ;)

@lloydvehicleconsulting Год назад
Sir, after a 250 mile round trip earlier this month we did pick up a bit of dirt, sadly... Mr Coleman will do his best to sort things out. Mr Hunter may or may not have much to say about that glovebox, I am afraid. 960 action will happen at some point.
@SuperFIFTHGEAR
@SuperFIFTHGEAR Год назад
@@lloydvehicleconsulting Sir. we cannot get the glove-box open, I think it's just been slammed shut. It's like the lock isn't connected to anything. It's a bit frustrating because the service history is in it 😂 Absolutely about the 960, I need somebody to look at it to get it running 100% right but after that I think it should be ready to get used a lot more. Paint aside. I really need to get that sorted out too.

@@lloydvehicleconsulting maybe it has to do with the tyre width. 16" 205 is much better than 17" 225 width. In my opinion, the P2 cars are the same or even worse.

@@mehrzahl2219 , I have driven a P2 S60 and a P2 V70 on No Budget Reviews. The S60 had an absolutely terrible turning circle. The V70 was a bit better. The S60 has better visibility than a C70, so perhaps slightly easier to park, but not great.
