Man, your instructions and walk through were really helpful to me. I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate the extra info about priming the pump etc. really helping us fellow working folks that have to fix our own rides. Thank you brother. God bless.
...dumb question... my 1999 sat for 2 years...we blew the good out of the filter...and it's been running... lost the alternator yesterday... got it back in today and she is doing that same old start stall... gonna try the prime idea first... now that I know of it... secure in the knowledge that the filter needs changed.... sounded like I need to find the fuel pump video if it isn't holding pressure... while off... sigh....
I changed the pump and the idle sensor an its still cuting off on me.would the filter not being changed cause that?ow an it had set for 3years before i changed the other stuff.
they should be pre gapped. check under hood for the gaping of your car ( should be a sticker) then check one plug, but im guessing you will be fine. most all spark plugs are pregapped. even double platinum. most of the time you gap a plug when its been 20,000 miles and they are still good plugs. the gap will spread as it wears. re gaping is the necessary, but pre gaping is hardly ever used. unless you have dropped one and the gap has closed a little. hope this makes sense, thanks for the comment.
Heads up, these are NOT the correct wrench sizes. GM uses metric. The nut on the fuel filter is 20mm, NOT 13/16. No wonder he says they like to strip, using the wrong size tools.
yes, that special tool mind you is not so special, there are cheap. about 6.00 at any hardware store. dont let it detour you from doing it. the word special tool seems to scare people away. shops love to use that term. however i have been turning a wrench for years, and most my special tools are ones i have made to keep from spending 6.00 dollars, ha. good luck.
thomas brian yeah they didn't have any at Napa or AutoZone and they're $11 on Amazon I just couldn't wait and while I dont recommend it I got a hacksaw and cut it between the filter and the fitting and used those x shaped tools with pliers and it came right out and was able to replace it.
Fuel pump relay. Fuse box. I know this is four years later but if you could see this please let me know if that's what it was or what the problem was. Thank You
Please show how you done it for me and us single ladies that don't understand! Please think about single ladies! If you give a more broken down video then I can ask my single friends too subscribe ! But we don't understand tools or techniques! By the way we all have 1999 chevy gmc to 2015~ Most of us have earlier models , about 400 to 650 are all 1998 till 2000 and the other 60 or for 2002 too 2005 and the rest are non- existent , because they say they rather have a computer diagnosed car and fix it than have a human overcharging mechanic! I personally believe in a human honest mechanic any day! Than a hand held computer or etc! I live in a small town and my local "Big Box Automotive Company" , were wiling to take over my care and charge me 350.00 for a computer check and fix , and when I took my car too a long- standing mechanic the price was 100.00 including parts and labor, that was a little more than 4 to 51/2 hours!

I am so happy that you and your friends are attempting this your self.
