I started with the idea of getting a Boxster, I bought a MK1 Audi TT Roadster convertible Audi A4 sport convertible, Jag XK8, Jag XJR. All ongoing projects, never did get a Boxster 😂 Keep up the good work Simon, looking forward to more top quality vids
Hi buddy, its good to hear from you. I have had 4 boxsters now, and I can honestly say I find them to be great little cars and an absolute bargain to boot 😀
I sold my Boxster 2.7 after keeping for just under 3 years and got my Jag. I did enjoy my Boxster but always struggled with leg room (I'm six foot) apart from that it was reliable, however I did the usual preventative maintenance stuff (spark plugs and plug oil seals, ignition switch, new rear shockers, ABS sensor, a couple of coils, Fuel Filter, Air Filter.) Don't be surprised to find it leaks oil from the rear crank oil seal (they all do that) and the exhaust bolts and heat shields will all be corroded ! Good fun tho
Hi buddy, like you I'm tall at 6' 2" so you have to adapt to fit in, but no more so I would say than my XKR. I agree with all of your maintenance tips, and these are items I will deffo be tackling. Happily for me it went straight through it's MOT today too 👍
Those comments like ‘poor man’s Porsche’ and the XK being a ‘poor man’s Aston’ irritate me, but maybe that’s because I can’t afford an Aston 😂 Good luck with it Simon!
It’s a perfectly good quality vid mate ! Ace vid actually and beaut Boxster! I would do exactly the same, I’d buy one with an issue like this for a good deal …. I’ve subscribed. I’m Interested to see how you go with it 👍
Hi buddy, good to hear from you and thanks for your kind comments. I was surprised how steady the in car shots came out! It passed its mot today with only one advisory, so happy days 👍
Brother, a Mustang or a Camaro are a midlife crisis. A Porsche at any level is a classy mature decision. The recently older ones like the early boxster give us men of a certain age distinction without the pretentious glances you would get from our peers. We are aficionados, and a Porsche of any sort is a red wine.
Hi Jeremy, good to hear from you, buddy. That was very eloquently put, and I must say i have to agree with you, and being over 25 years old now is a true classic, too 👍
Mike Brewer bought a boxster on his program Wheeler Dealers. That had gearbox fault and it was cured by changing oil and filter/ gearbox sump. Be lucky and hope its a simple fix 🤞 Projects in the barn rubber stamp is a good idea 😊 Check the cable to the rotary switch. If its out of adjustment it will cause thst fault. The6 can also be serviced
Hi Phil, Good to hear from you buddy. I rewatched that episode of wheeler dealers when I knew I was getting the car. I will deffo be changing the gearbox oil and filter, just for peace of mind 👍
Hi Simon, I hope you can repair the transmission problems. The vehicle runs well. When will you repair your xkr? I'm curious about the condition of the brakes. Thanks for the video. Greetings Udo
Hi Udo, the XKR is very much still my number 1 on the to-do list, now my motorhome is completed. I can get cracking into it now with no other major distractions 👍
Hi Steve, good to hear from you, buddy. This is my 4th boxster, and the 3rd 2.5L variant, the other being the 3.2S model. If you want horsepower and speed, then it might not be the car for you. However, if you want a really easy driving convertible that makes you smile every time you get in the car, then I say go for it. The 2.5L is plenty powerful enough, in my opinion, and cruises along down the road nicely. In terms of fuel, it's a tricky one to answer, as we all use and drive our cars differently. I fill mine with shell premium fuel, which is still pretty expensive, and cost me on average £100 to fill up from empty. Realistically, you will achieve mid 20's mpg just pottering about, and will do much better on a run. I can not accurately tell you my consumption as I still have my gear box in limp mode, so I can not get up into 5th gear. Overall, these are fantastic cars and represent amazing value for money. Just check the history of anyone you are interested in to make sure it has been well looked after. If you like to tinker in the garage, then these are also really easy cars to work on, in the most part. Good luck buddy, Simon.
