Definitely....Do it yourself. It's fun and often requires more care than in the workshop. A lifting platform would make sense, you have the space. But that is also expensive. It's great that the Porsche has the TÜV .In Germany this applies for 2 years.
Hi Udo, I agree, and i shall be doing it myself. I did have a 2 post ramp in my old barn, which was amazing, but sadly, I sold it when I moved out 😢 Maybe one day I'll invest in another one, it's so much easier 👍
Do it yourself you are competent. As you have stated just keep the paper trail. The Porsche will be a lot better engineered and hence easier to work on than the cars you are used to.
Don't worry about the stamp, do it yourself and keep the invoices/paperwork. I would rather buy a car from someone who can demonstrate they have properly looked after the car themselves rather than just chucked it into a garage in the hope they do the job correctly. A stamp in the book is no guarantee of work quality.
@@projectsinthebarn I do my own servicing on my XF and it costs me £50 for oil and filters. At that price I do it twice a year. Garages will charge between £400 and £600 to do exactly the same thing and people pay it because they think they are getting more than they actually are. It's madness.
@rickgordongordonellissteel3761 I totally agree buddy, it's classic enough now for people not to be so worried about it and do it yourself as you suggest 😉
The only way to go is have a Specialist Diagnose your car and find a cheaper way to get it done, preferably by one self which would save thousands over the years.
If and when you come to sell the car, the chances are it will be to somebody who has seen your work on you tube. So they would know it has been done, and done by you, diligently. I had a company car once that was apparently serviced and stamped by a main dealer who I was able to prove had not even touched it! Their excuse was that they were waiting for an obscure part to fix a separate problem so they didn't do the service either. But they did let me pay for it! The moral being that a stamp is no guarantee either! Plus - we all want to see your work on You tube so please do it yourself!
Hi again Andrew, that's a fair point about the garage, and if I do it myself, I know that it has been done properly to the best of my ability. I have just scored a set of brand new genuine porsche coil packs from eBay for £20 each, so I will be collecting the parts to do it myself now 😀
Hi Paul, I do agree. I had a quote back from Porsche today, nearly £800 for a minor service and brake fluid change!! So that's to change the engine oil, new oil filter, pollen filter, and brake fluid, which is expensive 🤔
