sounds like injectors mate, my surf had the same issue where when coldstarting it would start very roughly, just needed new injectors.

There is a crank sensor down on 1kz just down to oil filter . From left tire you can see it. Just change that crank sensor. I also go through that noise. When you will change the sensor it becomes quit and perfect while throatling

Possibly airleak in one of your vacuum hoses or fuel hoses?

Check basics, spill valve control relay. Egr valve(looks like spaceship) sometimes its stuck. Had Intermittent stalling before I cant start at all turns out my spill valve control relay is shut check my video on my channel cheers

Sounds like un burnt fuel. when you say you have checked your glow plug relay, did you check what voltage you have coming out when the glow plugs are on?

Check intake manifold and valves, what sizes of tires do you have? Check the compression and turbo pressure.

@@kumbienyekete3567 Rat chew of the wires to throttle position sensor. I got a TPS on ebay reconnected to the wires and truck runs fine.

Did this cause any problems turning the screw anti clockwise all the way?

@@shaemarsh7665 I didn't find any problems. Power is still good and the morning start is still pretty okay for a 30 year old engine. The fuel economy around the city is still 5km per litre. Highway is 7km per litre. My radiator fan clutch is locked though. Could buying a good aftermarket fan clutch improve fuel economy around the city by maybe 1km or 2km?

Double check all plug on the injection pump. Same thing happened to my 1kz

You have damaged your sp valve. It is solenoid, so it is usual coil with wire, something happend with it. You cam take multimeter and ring it to the body,. If it has ring that indicates that you damaged the coil, if no ring you should check viltage that come to connector from ecu.

Same with my 1kz , the car was running ok , only the turbo was oiling. the cars has been parked for years. I bought new turbo , serviced the car , changed all the filters but no diesel to the injectors. What can be the problem

If you turn on more diesel then it will give you black smoke. If you gradually turn it 1/4 of clockwise and check by driving it for 3 to 4km and notice. If your rig is fine then keep it there or reduce the diesel spill value anti clockwise 1/4 and again drive for 3-4 km. You will in the end find the good optimum position to where to set it. One thing make sure you air filter, fuel is clean. If any other question feel fee to ask.

@@ammarishfaq great explanation, thanks. Tried it your way and it did increase the black smoke so I backed it down a bit. Black smoke gone. I tried this because of a hard start. Any ideas on that?

Pickup was very laggy and burning more fuel because i had to push more throttle.

Its because you have moved it more anti clockwise, Move it back clockwise only 1/4th and then try again. If it starts ok if not turn 1/4 more clockwise and try.
