County property? Of course it's county property, or city property or state property because it's a PUBLIC SIDEWALK. But ownership is moot. It's a sidewalk designed and intended for the PUBLIC to use, so you can't be told to leave unless the area has been closed to ALL of the pubic.

My father is a retired police lieutenant. In the 70s, when I was a kid, he used to pick me up from school in his patrol car. Oftentimes, as we made our way home, lots of people would wave at my father and say, "hello!" I always had the sense that my dad was a very important man and extremely well-liked. Sadly, these days, very few people like or respect police officers. The abuse of power and the constant violations of the public trust has forever tarnished law enforcement's image. I wish they would get back to serving and protecting, instead of harassing and intimidating.

Cop: "How do I know that you're not going to use these pictures for something illegal?" Response: "Unless you have a reason to suspect that I'm committing a crime, then you don't have RAS of a crime and can't detain me."

It's interesting to me how differently people react to a camera, especially people in a position of power. For years I've watched the influence of auditors in places like Florida, Texas and California. Slowly, the knowledge is seeping into the mainstream. Then, some auditors started popping up in New Hampshire and Oklahoma. Finally, we have new, informed auditors popping up in Hawaii, New York, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Ohio and Indiana. (I mean credible PINAC Patriots, not attention-whores who bait cops) The precedent has been set. You will make a difference. It will take time and lots of patience on your part. "Suspicious Activity" is an adjective in a sentence which any other word could replace it like your acting goofy in public. As a professional Law Enforcement Officer ask them what exact law are they trying to enforce because being suspicious is not against the law. Your RIGHT's do not outweigh his needs! When being questioned by a bully with a badge just ask them what your 5th Amendment right is? Over all an awesome audit, cool as a cucumber.

so the cop wants to investigate a Constitutionally protected activity being conducted by a law abidiing citizen, with no "Reasonable Articulable Suspicion" nor any "Probable Cause" of a crime being committed. Just how ignorant can one cop be on the law? Any criminal investigation "MUST" be connected to an "ACTUAL CRIME" or "CRIMINAL ACT". Without these two things there can be no "Legitimate Investigation". It becomes an unlawfull "fishing trip". You should demand to see the Cop's fishing license. When the officer continues to force himself upon you and interrogate you against your consent, that becomes harrasment. It is also impeding you exercising your first amendment right to gather information by filming in public. There had been no report of a crime. He did not witness a crime upon his arrival. Thefore any conversation must be consensual. If you dont want to be bothered by him...tell him you donot consent to any conversation with him and demand that he leave you alone. Do not ask him....."DEMAND: that he leave you alone.
