Shortly before the 2017 Berlin Marathon, the creative center of AMPELMANN GmbH - the Berlin cult brand with its unmistakable green and red traffic light figures, put its eyes on a running and social project. Judge Craig Mitchell is the first-prize winner of the newly created AMPELMANN Award. The judge, who works at the court of Los Angeles, runs three times a week along with homeless people, drug addicts and unemployed people from one of the poorest neighborhoods in L.A. Skid Row.
Markus Heckhausen, founder and director of AMPELMANN GmbH, who granted the award with a donation of 5,000 euros for the use of the running club, handed it over: "We honor Craig Mitchell because his initiative and his outstanding commitment are both a role model and a mirror to us. The traffic light symbol was also given a second chance and the history says that we had fought for this successfully ".
