Hi Larry, I was thrilled to find you and this on RU-vid. I was raised in Derry but moved away when I was in 5th grade. My father and mother were William F and Sylvia Upton. They had a big beautiful farm house and log home resturant called the Chanticleer Log Cabin, www.flickr.com/photos/derrypubliclibrary/4835430724 on Manchester Road just down the road from the Smith Dairy. I was told that my dad had some native American heritage and wondered if you might suggest how to research who they were and how I could contact you.

Thank you for the pictures and sharing some of your background. I'm not sure how i can help with the research of your Dad's background other than starting with the usual resources the Library & historic society. They usually have some geneaology links and of course nowadays there are several sites on the internet that offer services. As far as contacting me: to start with facebook: Larry Seaman Around Town Salem NH

Larry Seaman thank you for your reply. I have done research through several sources and have some great genealogy stuff just can’t find anything about the Indian tribes in the area or how my dad was linked to this heritage. Lovely to have found you anyway, keep up the great work.

So to display the canoe it looks like you drilled through it and used big bolts to hang it with. That is not good preservation. In fact a portion of it is now gone and could have been preserved. This would do much better in a glass case than just hanging in the open air where it will over time continue to deteriorate.
